One of the threads I read on Lumberjocks talks about a blue Festool cushioned sanding pad. Does anyone know anything about this item? I cannot find it on the Festool website. What grits does this come in? Where do I buy this item?

[member=48572]Shane Holland[/member]  For the handsanding rolls, is there a difference between the ones that come in the box and the ones that are pictured just as bare rolls?

I was looking for the 100 grit in the foam backed sheets, which I love using when turning material on the lathe or sanding small contoured parts by hand, but it's unclear if the 201106 has the same foam backing as the ones in the box.

Possibly Granat Soft for the Planex?

Or hand sanding pads?

The pads are also available in boxes as tear-off sheets.

Those are the only blue abrasives with padding that I can think of.

[member=37411]ear3[/member] 201106 does not have a padded backing. It's basically a roll of sandpaper, no backing.

For use with a lathe, I think you'd want the roll in the box with the padded backing. The same abrasives that come in the box are available in a 10-pack as well.

[Thanks [member=48572]Shane Holland[/member]

BTW, what's up with the [member=101]Festool USA[/member] hatred for 100 grit granat?  This makes 3 lines for which 100 granat is not available in the states: RTS 400, RS 2, and now hand sanding sheets.  I mean, it's not like there's a UL issue at stake.

120 grit metric is the same as 100 grit imperial  [poke] [popcorn]

Honestly, not sure why Festool skips certain grits, or why RO 90 paper is primarily available only in 50 and 100 packs.  [scratch chin]

I think you're looking for 497XXX series. A 115 mm x 125 mm hand pad that comes on a perforated roll. Woodcraft sells the hand pads individually for 50 cents each. Just go to the roll and remove as many as you wish.
497091 = 120
497092 = 150
093 = 180
094 = 240
095 = 320
096 = 400
097 = 500
098 = 600
