Festool CXS - a new kid in town

I thought the same thing.  It does look longer.  Maybe Michael would give us a measurement of the two drills from their chucks to their backs, making sure to keep both chucks all the way open or closed.

Well it might be midge's nad longer but who cares? It's super light, compact and cheap[ish].What more do you want?I mean on price alone it's a winner for a Festool drill!!

I think a lot of people care  why try and compete with 12V drills if you dont bother to try and compete with the 12V drills?!?!? Doesnt make sence.  All I am trying to say is you might aswell go for T15 or C15 or T18 C18 as they are hardly much bigger but are ALOT more powerfull and last a lot longer or if you already own the bigger brothers I dont see the point in gettin the little brother.

If the CXS is longer, I think that would be a detriment compared to the C12 for fitting in confined places, even with the added height and weight.

Exactly!!!

the new c12+3 li is actually listed as 10.8v and weighs 1.4kg but the extra weight is the 2.6 ah battery. and has electronic clutch and works with the eccentric chuck so i dont know why they brought the cxs out?

Well.. the winner is.. the C12..

it has an overall length including a Festool Original PZ2 Bit of ... 6 1/2"
the CXS has an overall length with the same Bit of ................... 6 3/4"

all Measurements taken on the Top side.. including the rear notch.

BUT...

If you angle down the drill a little (20-30?) you could improve the situation noticably..
Now the CXS wins, as it come's down to 6"
where the C12 pretty much stays at 6 1/2 due to his heigth..

AND ...

the CXS has a much sleaker design, which will help and guide you very well in confined spaces..
Watch the Video and see  how i held my Hand around the CXS, putting my Index finger on the right side of the Drill..
it feels very well this way and gives you much Power to hold and guide it.. feel's little like a strong screwdriver..

After all, you should giv'em try.. if possisble.. nobody blames you if you dont like it.. solution is.. you simply don't buy it..  [thumbs up]

It's not on the UK site yet. Going off the Euro price it should be sub-200GBP, which is less than half the price of the C12.

I'll ask about it on Friday, but I don't think they'll have the answer...

Edit:

Just had a look on festool.de, and price for the set (with the right-angle chuck) is EUR296.74, which converts to GBP246.74. The basic model (no right-angle chuck) is EUR224.91, which is GBP187.28.

The German prices include VAT at 19%, so the conversion should be fairly accurate for the UK, including our VAT at 17.5%.

Cheers Jonny

If its under 200 GBP in a new t lock systainer then its a given for me  [embarassed]

I am an addict after all  [eek]

In DE:
The C12 with 1,3Ah LiIon is on sale for ~439 Euro incl. VAT - funnily enaugh they dont offer the C12 together with 2,6 Ah LiIon's, but you can buy them separate..
The C12 without Systainer, Charger and 2nd Battery is only 291 Euro incl. VAT - for those, which already have a charger and want additional larger Batteries.

kind regards, Mike

Well my dealer called me 2 day to say hes selling the drill for 186GBP so you was right on the price thats for the basic model.  He also ordered 40 of them drills! Apparently only 600 CXS are coming to the UK
