hi, so I've just picked up a job fitting new fire doors into existing casings, about 85 in total, most of which are a mile out of level and in twist. so the doors will need fitting and probably the rebates on the Cassings will need altering,
know I could just you my ehl65 and takes number of passes to fit and use a rebate plane to tweet the casings, but seeing as you can alter the depth of cut on the move so to speak with the 850 it would luckily be doable in one pass , and you an plane up to an edge it would probably make things a lot easier, quicker to alter the rebates.

does anyone have any experience in using an 850 in a similar situation, and was it worth the cost ?

I have tried it once.

It's not ideal because if it's more than one pass with max depth then your going to be doing a lot by hand anyway.

and if your trying to feathering it in by the time you got to the end it's been a lot of hassle for not a lot because you still have to do the last bit by hand and chisel which is the thickest end anyway.

I found a router/trimmer to be the better option or even the TS55.
