These may seem insignificant compared to all the other great products Festool makes, but I have to give credit where credit is due. The soft interface pads available for Festool sanders rock! I have purchased them for my ro 125, ro 90, and rts 400. They make easy work of sanding profiles such as stair tread bullnose, handrails, and round furniture profiles. I have found this to be a much less costly alternative than purchasing Festool's linear action sander. I also sometimes use these interface pads for finishing when using a super fine Abranet abrasives.

May not seem as exciting as my other Festool products but I do not know what I would do without these little pads. I use them on almost every woodworking and refinishing project now. Great little add-ons to keep in your sanders systainer.

Welcome to the FOG...

...and here's another trick to do with the interface pads. Let's say you have a glued-up panel and there is a hair's breadth of difference along the glue line, use rubin 100 with the interface pad to smooth it out. You will reach the finish line a lot faster than if you just try to use the regular pad with the same paper.

Now there is a tip I need to try.

RGallup:  Thanks for info.  Have sometimes thought a 'softer' pad would be useful; not just for the RTS, but for the DTS as well.
Problem:  Cannot see any listed by Festool for those sanders - am I missing something?
Query:  If Festool don't sell them, did you get yours from Abranet ?

Cheers, Richard.

Just be careful when pulling abrasives off the interface pad, I just ripped one apart pulling too hard and too close to the edge...you can use the same force/speed.

There is an interface pad for the LS 130 which also fits the RTS 400.
It's numbered 490160 (2 pieces) and has only eight holes.
I use them myself and they are indeed very handy.
To my knowledge there isn't one for the DTS sander, but they are also available for the eccentric/Rotex D90,  D125 and D150 type sanders.

Ceddy,

I just did that myself the other day with one I use on my ro 125! Its still hanging in there. I think I might attempt to repair with glue.

neeleman:  [doh] very grateful for the info.  I have a LS - played with the rectangular pad after first buying it; but never used that pad again.
So...need to get the interface pads - and thinking might play again with LS + rectangle pad (if I can find it - lol.)

ceddy:  appreciate the heads-up.

Richard.

Can't remember if I read it on here or dreamt it ... using two interface pads on the RO 90 gives you a great contour following capability.
