Festool Introducing New Vacuum System?

Just talked to an employee at Festool.  They said this new Vacuum System with be out within the First half of the new year.

The main use for the air ports is when using with an air sander ect.  It turns the vac on just like the regular sanders do.  You can change the air module for another electric socket & fit a "y" connector to the hose so you can run 2 tools at the same time without unplugging, eg- the kapex & a sander.  I don't think i would run 2 sanders at once though, don't think the extract would handle that, but i don't know.

Are you sure they were not refering to the Vacuum clamping system?

Looks like Dewalt is coming out with a dust extractor as well.  Seems their pricing will be somewhat in line with that of Festool.  When I was looking for a track saw, I went with Festool as it had been out for years, whereas Dewalt was just coming to market, and the prices were about the same.  Seems like it's going to the be same if I decide to get one of these.

Will you look at the outdated shape of those things?

Tom,

Yes.  Square is in.  Also, not that I would buy one since I have a Fein Turbo II (round)and a CT-22 (square).  I love them both. I use the Fein (the older II) with my router table and for shop clean up since I had the tool kit.

I wonder about the country of origin and the quality of the DeWalt.  I know that the general consensus seems to be that Dewalt is not what it used to be.  I am not sure what the turning point was that changed things.  Of course we hear the same things about Porter Cable and Delta.  Maybe we are just Festoolian snobs. ;)

B & D.

It's not a "parent" company (parents are nurturing), it's more like a drainer of good will built up by the names they bought. Oh, and a mover of manufacturing (overseas).

Can't tell for sure, but it sounds like there's an option to run a "regular" power socket, too, that won't turn the vac on... which is AWESOME. Finally, I can plug in the battery charger for the drill without turning the vac on.

I don't know what so special about the new DEWALT vac.I believe BOSCH has a vac  with the self pulse cleaning filter.
