Festool Live is DEAD.

For what situations do you use the Hand Electric Planer?

Why do you prefer the EHL65?

Asking to learn — thanks : - )
Mainly scribing panels, benchtops, templates etc on cabinet installs. The EHL65 is very light - so easy to handle, and cuts beautifully. It's also narrower than most planers, whereas the new one is the standard 82mm wide. A cordless version would have been perfect, but instead we're getting a clone of every other cordless planer on the market.

They're down two outlets in Portland, but that still leaves seven or so counting paint stores. Aside from the big store brands I can't think of a tool company with more retail shelf space than Festool. My take on the marketing shake up is that it's a good thing. Best wishes going forward to everyone but it was time for a change.
That’s a fair take. Even being down a couple of outlets, they still have strong retail presence — especially compared to most specialty tool brands. Festool already has significant shelf space for a premium manufacturer, so it’s not like they’re disappearing from view. And honestly, leadership or marketing shake-ups can be healthy if they help refocus the brand and adapt to the market. Change isn’t always bad — sometimes it’s overdue.

BINGO! I thought i was the only one. All of a sudden, he has made himself a couple at home cabinets and the guy is out here making videos "cabinets have never been easier" spewing out advice as if hes some professional. Just watch some in depth videos like him installing his own floor with some terribly placed joints and you quickly see through his BS.

At one point, he was pushing Harvey equipment because they were giving him free machinery and a large monthly check of $3000-4000 for his work. Once that came to a stop, he suddenly gets rid of all his harvey equipment for hammer/felder. Zero accountability, its all about the money for him.

Now he is on a podcast with sedge and ronnie, and the three gel quite nicely as they're all somewhat similar personalities and all have major drinking problems. Seems as jason has recently gone on a "no alcohol journey" with his new found coach, but the dude would be sporting a beer at 11:00AM at a casual woodworking event. I never saw him drink if he was doing a demo for festool. Hope his journey goes well, he looks tired and needs it. Sedge, its apart of his personality, hes a nice guy cant say anything bad. Ronnie, the guy exploited his son for views on instagram, and now is all over festool like a rash for constant freebies and is so desperate to be included.
Well, I’ve read through this entire thread and I almost was not going to respond because it’s just not worth it but I couldn’t let this one go.
Dude that’s pretty harsh. Why are you getting into a guy drinking and making some sort of a perceived notion that he “has a major drinking problem.” That’s not cool. At all. You don’t like his content and think it’s all about him, etc.? OK, no problem but man that crossed the line. I guarantee he’s on this forum and reads this stuff. Nobody needs that kind of vitriol .
You’ve been a member since November and it looks like every post has to do with this topic. Why don’t you add something constructive.
Quite frankly, I’m surprised your comment wasn’t deleted

( on the positive outlook side )

It’s good that Sedge landed a new position with Rubio.

It seems he’s very comfortable with those folks and the new role.
So what's his actual role or title, is he like an ambassador or travelling presenter, or just the media facing personality, or all of the above?

Seems you can only do so much media for a finish product?

I heard Sedge on the After Show of the Three Splinters Podcast that he is re-arranging his woodshop to be a “film studio” for Rubio.

That wall of Festool tracks might be gonzo!

They did create a new role just for Sedge, something to do with Marketing.

Vaguely remember him saying the “Ambassador” word as a descriptor for his role.

He will also be going to a fair amount of trade shows and staffing the Rubio booth stand.
