Festool OF 1400 Router lighting options?

As my dog Magyver would probably recommend - duct tape and an led flashlight? [eek] or [thumbs up]

Inlinefabrication makes reloading press lights. I bet you could use one and run it along the router power cord so it's out of the way.

Those are getting pretty close to what would work, I think battery powered would be easier though. I already have a power cord and a hose. Don't want to add a third cable, if there are no better options I will likely get something like the ones you posted.

Perhaps a light ring designed for a microscope? They come in a variety of sizes like this:

This is one feature missing from the OF1400 and I was surprised there was no light.
I didn't even think about it because so many routers have had them for a few years
and I expected that Festool would have one or more LED lights on the tool.
The rub is when someone asks you how you like your Festool router I saw I do like
it but there is no light. I had a Craftsman commercial router with a light 30 years ago.
It was a battery operated and just hung on the side of the motor by a pair of screws
and ran off two AA batteries. That would be a great setup today with an LED light.
When the chips start flying do they really help much? I remember that old Craftsman
router threw up so much dust the light was near useless. But I think with the excellent
chip and dust collection that Festool has they would be usable.
I know there are other routers that do not have a light but they are half or less the
the price of a Festool.

Amen...I also had a Craftsman router probably 40 years ago that had 2 incandescent lights that illuminated when you fired the router up. They didn't last long though because of the vibration.
Festool found that lights were a convenience and added them to the Carvex, it would be a nice upgrade to the 1010 and 1400. [dead horse]

I've read this discussion and have a question:
is Festool listening to their customers and improving their tools on this one ?
Or are they too busy boxing up battery sanders ?
I'm reminded of a recent Domino discussion in which many postulated (and some outright said , though erroneously ) that Festool in changed the pins on the domino to tabs because "they listened to customer feedback and ""improved"" the tool accordingly. ".
Customers asking for lights in Festool routers is a pretty old discussion, but where's the improvement ? Or even acknowledgement that there will be a study ?
Are we throwing in the towel Festool ; conceding that brands like Dewalt and that king of the homecenter tool aisle -Ridgid- make better routers ? They have lights in them, and have for a while. They're as powerful as comparable OF models , and have dust collection too.
Or was the "we listen to the customer" line from the Domino discussion a bunch of bunk ?
And the real question: When are integrated lights going to be offered on Festool routers ?
