Festool Planex 2 pad flying off

Had anyone else run into the issue of the Planex 2 pad falling off when starting the sander or sometimes in the middle of sanding? The plastic screws just don't seem to be able to hold the pad in place.

I noticed it tends to happen more when the sanding disc is slightly off center. I hacked it back together after the 5th time by using metal washers under the plastic screws but I imagine this isn't good for the pad.

Go to Festool Nirvana’s new site- Tool Nirvana- and ask Chip, the owner , if one of his customers has run into this issue. He sells so many Festools to so many different tradespeople, that they probably experienced it already. Meanwhile I'll text him to see if he can respond with any ideas.... [cool]

I've been doing a lot of work lately with the Planex LHS-2, I've not had an issue. The only caveat is that if you switch between drywall finishing and plywood sanding, check the sanding pad for imbedded wood splinters as these will produce an unacceptable surface finish on the drywall.

I had this happen once only to discover that the eight plastic screws were not tightened down.

While removing the OSB fibers that were stuffed under the Planex sand paper disc, I also noticed that a couple of the plastic screws holding the pad to the machine were also not tight. But more interesting, I noticed the pad rotation was 5-6 mm off center. That's not good...

I contacted Chip- He hasn't run into this Pad flying off issue- He recommends having Festool take a look at the Planex- which would mean of course, having to send the tool to Indiana/HQ.
