Festool Radio SYSROCK BR10

Looks like I might be one of the only people to buy one. No digital signal around here, heck most of the time I have no mobile signal. But at least I can BT the phone to the radio :)

Buy a bluetooth speaker, it'll be cheaper and more portable  [smile]

Much ado about nothing, Festool radio I have long ago.

Anyone from within Festool UK care to comment on the lack of DAB?

Hi
I.T issues prevented commenting earlier on.
DAB in the UK has good coverage along with some other countries - that is not the case everywhere hence the reason no DAB.

Some of us (quite a few I expect) only listen to channels available on DAB, so that's a bit of a miss really.

US has pretty good digital radio coverage as well.

I don't think there's a timeline to go all digital, but it's there.

In the midwest there are not that many. Currently by me there is only 1 channel and lets just say I pay for XM.

Really!?!  [blink]

I only listen to dab stations. I don't understand why not just stick it on as a feature anyway?! You would sell so many more of these if it had DAB.

Complete miss if you ask me.

I respect that may be the answer you have been provided and are just forwarding it to us, however it just doesn't cut it for what we expect from Festool unless it sells for a lot less than what is on the market already that has those features in it. At 133 euros in France that's over $190 CDN.

A whole bunch of Customers would want DAB today and it doesn't matter today what the penetration of DAB is elsewhere it should be ready for it when it arrives!! Here's a quote from Wayne Gretzky, the best hockey player ever and an internationally know sportsman.....

“A good hockey player plays where the puck is. A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be.”
― Wayne Gretzky

Add me to the "bitching about no DAB" list.
It's just plain cruel. I got so excited by the offering of a Festool radio but the joy turned to disappointment when I realised there was no DAB. It would be better if there wasn't a radio at all. I guess I'll just go for the dewalt offering when I upgrade my nail gun to the new Li ion...

The uk are aiming for a switchover from fm to dab ( in 2010 they were aiming to switch over in 2015 but there is no current date given that i know of) so when this happens the sys rock will be obsolete

I think the "want-factor" would have been higher for a 300-400 euro radio/charger that had something special. Right now this feel like just another radio. And that not how I usually describe a Festool product:)

I'm sure DAB isn't available everywhere. However, there are some countries in Europe where the FM system has already been switched off, or is due to in the next year or so.

So FM isn't available everywhere, either.

I know you're only repeating the company line Phil, so no offence to you, but that's a pretty feeble excuse for what seems like a massive oversight.

Is this a bad timing to announce the new portable sys-phone?

Lol brilliant is it analog ?

Yeah, probably still works in Somalia & Mauritius, until they switch over to digital.

The lack of DAB is a real pity but lets get it in perspective and give Phil a bit of support ...

In which country in the whole world has FM finished? In which country in the whole world has DAB taken over completely from the established FM stations?

No need rush to answer - lets leave it to 2017 which is when the first European country was scheduled to switch to DAB.

The Sysrock may not be perfect but neither is the average car (with its FM radio).
