A plunge base can do anything that a fixed base can do, but the reverse is not true. I assume that is the point? The only "advantages" a fixed base can claim are simplicity and a lower center of gravity. Total weight is not necessarily a thing because the OF1010 is lighter than many fixed base routers.
Also, there is a bit of a debate about weight anyway. Some argue that the weight/mass adds to stability. Others say that this does not always come into play and they would rather have a lighter machine.
The plunge base for the MFK700 is called OF1010....lol
