Festool T15+3 Review

Thanks for the video. The drill looks pretty powerful to me, see what you mean about the gears slipping tho. over all are you pleased with the T15 and its performance so far? Hey what else have you got in those systainers? looks like  an impressive( and expensive )collection.

Yes I am very pleased with the drill, Performance and the addons with the offset and angle bit. The only thing is the gears slipping I have done it a few times now and keep forgetting to make sure its into gear fully because you dont normally look you just change gear dont you then start drilling.

I got:

1. One Handed Planer EHL 65
2. Planer HL 850
3. Circular saw TS 55 EQ-Plus-FS GB
4. Cordless drills T 15+3 Li 2.6 Set GB
5. CTL 22 Dust Extractor

The other boxes have other tools in them like:

Makita Trimmer
Bosch Jig saw
Bosch small impact driver
Bosch Router
Makita Router
Makita Circular saw
Dewalt Second Fix Nail Gun
Passlode 1st Fix Nail Gun
Makita Belt sander
I got a box for the Vein Multi Mater but I aint put that in the festool box yet.

These tools I already bought just a month befor I went to a Demonstation for festool and was convinced by the sales reps to buy the TS55 and Vein Multi Master

When I got home and used both tools I was amazed and from then on decided to buy festool tools. I had just bought a Bosch sinlge blade planer the day befor and took it straight back to the shop and bought the festool one handed planer. Dont get me wrong the new bosch planer is good but the festool one handed planer is better. I really wanted the festool jigsaw but I not long bought the bosch jigsaw so i gotta wait till it brakes on me.

The other tools I wanted to buy is the Festool Trimmer and Festool Router but I already have a router and trimmer also the festool Domino but I have a biscuit jointer I know the biscuit jointer is no where near as good as Domino but its alot of money. Finaly a Festool Kapex Chop saw but I already own a Makita Chop saw. So really I wish I knew about festool before I went out buying tools. I have only been doin joinery for 3 1/2 years so non of my tools are very old so got long wait before I will have to replace one of the tools with festool.

So all i got left the buy of festool at the moment is accesories really for the tools I already own which im saving up for.

Im waiting now for the Milwuake M18 range to come to UK im buying the Impact and Driver set.

thanks for posting the video, i never use auger bits but that video really does show the power the 15v has. i was in 2 minds about getting one but i think ill give one a go. as for the gears not ingaging i had that with my c12 when i bought it 6 month ago but after about a months use i dont have the problem anymore and it slips in right everytime.

Oh so its a problem they had befor then thought they would of sorted that out then seen as it was a problem on the older models. I didnt kno about that cheers.

hey jmb hows it going? have you ever owned a dewalt 18v xrp combi drill? i have had mine for 7 years and i still have the same thing with changing gears but it still works perfect. when i bought it i called dewalts tech helpline and they said it was due to the mechanical gear box and not a problem. well 7 years have past and alot of my other drills have come and gone yet my dewalt 18v is still going strong and im on my 4th set of batteries so i wouldnt worry about yours too much.

> Ill get back to you all then to let you know.

I'm sorry you can't get this product to work for you, maybe it's time to call it quits on this drill and go with another brand.

And it's not good practice to start a new thread for problems with the same tool over and over again.

sorry to hear about the problems you are having.

i am curious why you want to start a new post.

would it not be easier just to add on to this thread.

i have not been using internet forums for a long time, this is the first forum i have used, but i understand that when i start a thread, i can add to it for weeks, months or years.

i hope you get your drill replaced or refunded so you can purchase a new one, i have had similar experiences with tools in the past and they have always been resolved peacefully.

regards, justin.

Wow, thats unbelievable.

I've had mine since they were launched here in NZ (Octoberish) and its worked flawlessly since then.

I find it odd to read about all these problems with Festool tools in the USA and have never herd of these problems happening over here in NZ. Maybe you guys get all the duds,  ;D thats why they are cheaper over there than over here. :P

Ummm - The T15 drill is not available in the USA until May, 2009.

Have there been any reports other than jmbfestool's about problems with the T15 drill?

I think it's important to have this kind of experience reported here, for the members and for the company to know about.  However, there are three separate discussions on the same tool experience, so I'm going to combine this discussion with the two others.

Thanks,
Matthew

Has the drill got as much power as Festool say it has, for example how many 3 inch mortise locks could you fit on one battery charge? Will it drill a 1 inch diameter hole in hard wood?

Here you can see a video i have done and uploaded for you onto youtube demonstrating a 1'' 1/4  ( 32mm)  drill bit through oak but just like to add that auger bits do require more power to drill into wood than a flat bit so it would be easier to drill 32mm with a flat bit. On the video is used Irwin Blue Groove 6x Wood Bit Sets

Here is the link for the Video:

v nice  video  have the  c12 about a year its faultless, I have a mind that  your new drill is even better with the liion batteries / i might have to trade up  for tax purpose  s  I like the sound the new one makes as well !  similair to c12 but better! Have you tried the c12 how do they compare  I build  wardrobes/ kitchens/wall studs/  flooring mostly also  I thought there might be a torque cutoff device so when the bit jams the drill doesnt chin you.. :o

Sorry! bein stupid.  Yeah thats y i put it on here because i think people should know!!!!  I tell people if its good but I also when its bad maybe more soo when its bad! It just seems to be me with the problem at the moment but I am one of the few people who actually own one of these new drills. So it will take time before alot more people will start to return the drill with problems. The second drill did last longer than the first. unless i just had a second lot of bad luck with a second dodgy drill. Ill let you lot know when I find out more because I have returned my drill saterday. Good job the shop I bought the drill from give me a drill while I wait. Also good job i was working with some blokes I knew who lent me a drill when the festool broke on me.

just got the t15+3 today , i really like the drill , I've been using the makita 18v litheon ion lxt range ,I've had 3 in a year and a half, first one replaced under 1 year guarantee , i had to buy the second (bare tool) all them 3rd gear went !!!! the festool is much small than the numb makita , and its more powerfull , not going off the nm's quoted , but it is, and I'm sure it'll be like the rest of my festool gear and last longer than anything else I've used
p.s this is the first time I've ever done one of these post ,so if anythings wrong i apologise
