The updated website now has this tag line added to all shown prices, 'Non Binding Price Recommendation' does this mean an end to fixed prices?
Or have they been taken to task and covering themselves?
Seems very odd that it has just appeared, anyone know what it's all about.
Rob.

Hi Rob

Now that`s interesting!

Think my Festool dealer might just get a good old fashioned battering over the price of a Cleantex AC. will let you know how I go on. [big grin] [big grin] [big grin] [big grin] [big grin]

Been on to my dealer this morning. They know nothing about this change. They did not seem very happy about not being informed by festool.

If this change is as a result of Price fixing illegally does that mean we can go back to festool for a refund on the tools we have bought at an artificially fixed price???????

My dealer RCF got back to me and he has spoken to the festool Rep hes going to look into it.  He says he just thinks its just to cover them selves for legal reason.  He said you dont want festool to drop the prices if that happens its a downwards spiral and festool will become like Makita Bosch or EVEN DEWALT!  [eek]

I hope it's just arse-covering on Festool UK's part.

Whilst I think Festools are expensive, and I can't buy all the tools I want (especially at the moment), I do like the fact that the prices are maintained. If dealers were free to sell at any price they liked, you'd end up with one or two companies selling at next-to-nothing, and all the decent, helpful dealers going out of business.

It'd be the start of yet another slippery slope, albeit of a slightly different kind...

Not sure I see it that way, Festool would still make the same money, its just the dealers would loose margin. The issue there is about the quality of dealers, if they make less money, there will be less inscentive to give good service, stay educated on the products etc, they would just become thin sales channels.
