Festool WCR Workcenter + Dust Deputy?

I really like the idea of a dust deputy sitting on top of the CT dust collector, but with the WCR work center installed on the CT there is only 29-30" of space below... and the dust deputy is taller than that (plus the hose sticking straight up).

I sent a note to Oneida to see if they can build a version with the funnel offset to the side so that it will fit under a work center, it's a long-shot.

Other ideas:
- Ekats: buy new vertical WCR posts and saw them in order to make an extension on the current work center's vertical posts (not ideal)
- Mount current WCR to the multifunction cart ($360 for a stool and a drawer?!) and take up more garage space
- Lifetime bag for CT (bags are a big pain to get to with the WCR mounted and tools on it).

Any other creative ways to hack Dust Deputy + Workcenter combo??

I have the Workcenter on a CT-26 with a boom arm.  Like it a lot.  I have not found changing bags to be that big of a hassle personally.  I use mostly sanders and the routers so I don't accumulate a huge amount of chips in the bag requiring that many changes.

What kinds of work are you doing?  Just wondering if the Dust Deputy is warranted depending on what you connect the vac to.

I also have the multifunction stool / cart, but like the work center on the vac much better - use it for hanging sanders, drills, domino, and all kinds of small tools while I am working.

The boom arm is great, love it most of the time. Wish it could rotate more than 90 degrees for that price.

Using CT for all tools, wide variety of random work. Routers, track, sanders, and temporarily for bandsaw and table saw until I find a good solution for wall mount dust collection

I had. WC on my CT26 w/boom arm. Became a hassle when changing/ emptying bags, which was quite frequent.

So left the boom arm on the 26 moved the WC to my 22 I load my WC up so it was heavy to move around and still a pain to change / empty bags

So Bought the stool as I was to lazy isn't want to spend the time ect building one.

Very happy I did, it's made very well nice heavy gage steel great castors and plenty of storage, W/C roll very easy even though it's loaded up with more stuff and has a lot of stuff stored in the drawer and mini syst stuffed the cubby hole.
You won't regret getting it.

For got to add that I have very limited space, 1/2 of UK 2 car garage. I made up for the addition space being taken by the stool by the ability to move the 22 around and put it under my MFT and just easily move it out of the way when I need to.
So I really didn't lose any floor space.

Personally, I'd build a Thien baffle with a side inlet (I have one in front of my dust collector and it works as well or better than the dust deputy).  I have a dust deputy I use with my CT and while it works well, the quality leaves a lot to be desired.  First the top of the DD glue joint failed and the top came off completely, then the lid split, now the bucket is starting to collapse.

When I called DD about the failed glue joint, there was no offer to replace the unit, they just told me to buy some plastic glue and reglue it.

I've got the Dust Deputy, Work Center and a home made boom arm. Here are a couple of pics of what I did. It's abit of a chore to change the bag but if I stay on top of emptying the Dust Deputy bucket, I shouldn't have to change the Dust extractor bag too often. I'm able to change the side that the dust deputy is mounted to in case I'm working on somethig and it would be more convenient to have it one one side vs. the other. I also raised the height of the work centre abit to add room for a drawer in the plywood mount.

Really is a shame the Worck Center doesn't raise up high enough to fit the Ultimate Dust Deputy under it. That would be a sweet setup!

[member=13449]9Fingers[/member] , did you make your boom arm from 1" or 1-1/4" EMT ?

i made my own
I can't seem to turn the images?? sorry
