Festool without Systainers?

Is it possible to order Festool items without systainers?  I don't use my current systainers so I was wondering if tools can be ordered in a cardboard box instead to save money.  Recently on CL near me someone was selling Festool laminate routers and they were all in factory festool cardboard boxes instead of systainers.  Would my local dealer know about this?

Not available sans Systainer, in North America at least, barring one or two particular tools.

However Systainers always seem to sell pretty well in the classified section here on FOG.
