Brett,

The arrow and scales and the holes that you dont use or understand are for calibrating the jig.

John

Cheers Windmill but when would you use it?  Do you use this feature? If so how and why?  I just cant think anything really which I could use it for to benefit me for any reason at the moment. As I always mark where I want my cuts to start.

Morning Brett,

You use the holes and arrow and scale , any time you are not cutting the standard 600 mm worktop. [smile]

There is no need to mark the start of the mitre, this jig will do it all for you! You are making the job harder by doing it your way(that works) but you are not getting the best out of the jig.

Will try and get back to you later, lots on at the moment.

John [smile]

It would be hard for those on this side of the pond to offer comments on something we don't have here.  Unusual situation.

1 meter 130mm!!  With the current setup  I think

But if you get a longer rail or extend the rail you can do as wide as you want!  Is limitless!

Any one had problems with this jig ?

Bought brand new, great set up method and very secure when clamped.

Done about five kitchen tops now, every one; on the male, it  ends up too short therefore the female side lips over by at least a 1.5 mill.

USING THE 14 MILL CUTTER.
Any thoughts !

Nope never had any problems. I have done loads and loads of kitchen joints with it love it.

BUT one thing i would like to see changed on the jig is the length I wish they made it 20mm longer!  Then it would be perfect!

You see the reason why your getting this lip is because the work top jig is designed to be used on 600mm work tops not 618 and your properly fitting 618 work tops but the way it has be designed you can do work tops 1000 or more if you wanted to by clamping the rail but just moving the jig along which is fine and a great feature of the jig!

But to me just for 18mm thats kinda  annoying and I wish they just made at 20mm longer it would not of harmed anything.

The thing is the lip doesn't really affect you as if you look closely it happens on the female also but Instead of a small lip you get the opposite it goes in slightly at the end so it should still match the male.    Also tiling or a up stand covers it so just block plane it off.

Clay watch the YouTube video I made on page 1 on this topic  you can see I actually point out the little lip it leaves with the hex screw driver on the male joint.  Did you not see it on the video....?

HI JMB,

thanks for the reply.

I am jointing 600mm tops, the lip is appearing at the "mitre" intersection at the front of the work tops.

To me, unless I am not using jig correct, albeit foolproof, one side of the jig is smaller than the other therefore not routing a deep as it needs to be.
