After my last few projects, I wanted to make sure I had some time to work on a new workbench for the garage (or shop, whatever works). I've had the plans for the Ron Paulk workbench for awhile now and had the materials cut to size for a few months. Just never had time to finish it.
Already have a cutting table that has worked great for the past few years, but have wanted something solid and ways to clamp to it.
Have been trying to figure out a way to use it as a cutting table too, but did not want to ruin all that work. I finally figured just to out a piece of 1/4" plywood on top, and replace it when I needed to and redrill it. So I was trying to figure out a way to make up a template to drill all the holes. Wish I would have watched his YouTube videos of his Total Station before today, grrrrrr!
I took the pegboard and drilled out all the holes at 1" Marked the dead center of the sheet, made a jig and used the Domino to make some references for the template and just went from there. Figuring I could use a collet and my 20mm bit.
Once I had the template ready to go I lined up the center lines and centered it from the ends. Plunged the domino through everything and started drill all the holes. Took about an hour to do my 20mm dogs fit perfectly once I got the speed right after a couple holes. Are they perfectly straight compared to my MFT3, no, but close enough to clamp with.
Didn't make the saw horses since I had adjustable ones I wanted to use. All in all it worked out and went pretty well, just curious how the template will work out the next time to see if it all likes up like I hope.
