"folding" screen...what do you think?

I like it a lot! [thumbs up] [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

What is the finish?
Where will it be used?

Thanks for the post!

Thanks for the support Jay!  This has been an ongoing project that I finally finished.  It is a basic frame and skinjob with an acrylic resin and quartz matrix finish.  I filled the bottoms of the panels with concrete to make them bottom heavy.  I used Spreadstone as the main finish.  The blue is a Mohawk product that is a very concentrated
waterbourne colorant.  I then sprayed  waterbourne conversion varnish and...,in an attempt to be clever, I wet sanded them with 1000 grit with my rotex 150 and polished  with a rottenstone and rubcut oil mixture.  I will say the Mohawk colorant was so concentrated that I only used what was on the bottom of the lid to glaze all 6 sides of the screen.  It is for a show at Creighton University in Omaha.

Hey Ghost,
Any relation to GhostDog?...just kidding.
This piece has a long history and it started as 5 pieces.  I am a mentor for local high school students
at the Kent Bellows Studio.

It is now a 3 piece screen....

Actually slightly ya there is a relation to ghost dog, the name really has no meaning though just internet jibberish

Cool studio btw and sounds like a great program. Wish i had something like that when i was in highschool.

Very cool, I was just thinking about building a screen today...

I'm sure the pictures don't do the piece justice.

I really like the soss barrel hinges, very slick!

The whole thing looks fantastic from design to finish.  Definitely want to see some pictures of where it will be used.  Now I have to go read about the things you made it with :)

Looks like a Doctor Who opening screen splash. Cool.

Was it designed with a target location in mind?

No target location yet.  It will most likely end up in my basement along with all the other misfit toys.
Thanks for the comments.

Very nice. You remind me of David Marks. That is something he would do. Please dont hide it. By no means a mis-fit.

Thanks for the input!  Here are some other pieces.  Similar finish on MDF domes and 18 piece segmented frames.

Very nice -- it is cool to see some different finishes than traditional oil or some kind of clear-coat.  I really like the color.  The design of the screens is nice looking too -- I like the tapered look.
