I finally went green on St. Patricks Day, by putting down my bagpipes and picking up a new CT MIDI, vac Cleaner Kit in SYS1, RO90X Sander (abrasives and pads), Hand Sander Block w/Dust Extraction, and patiently waiting for my PRO5 to arrive.

I put everything into service right away and was pleased to say they worked great together. My only regret is that I waited until now to purchase them.

I showed my wife that the CT MIDI could be used on our homes hard wood floors and area rugs when needed. After plugging AC cord from the MIDI, I was able to clean more floor space by utilizing the long hose/cord then either of our two Dyson's  (DC25 & DC17) which required replugging into different outlets.  The same result was achieved on our stairs, by leaving the MIDI in one spot I was able to vacumm every step. The Dyson's would have be dragged behind us in order to vacuum every step.

I even let my wife try it out but she was quite content in letting me use it on our hardwood floors all by myself !

I found the RO90 a fantastic sander and the Delta head was sorely needed feature to get into the corners of the stair risers.

The Midi's Auto Start, Suction Control and quietness is a true treat coming from a 16 gal Craftsman Shop Vac and Oneida Dust Deputy. Again my wife was impressed she was able to watch tv while I worked.

The Hand Sander Block excelled in in terms of the dust extraction when connected to the vac.  I used the MIDI's stock Green 27mm Hose  but I would like to purchase the more flexible Grey 21.5mm hose designed for this sander.

One of the negatives that I didn't care for concerned how the SYS1 Cleaning Set was secured to the top of the MIDI hose garage. Its not intuitive and does not align easily.

I am not sure if its a height thing in the MIDI's hose garage or the lack of positive guides to align everything. I expected that SYS1 would work like the way you connect multiple SYS containers with the TLOC.

However once everything was put together rolling the MIDI with the systainers attached to its top was a real time saver.

I could nitpick a few things in user manuals. I found a few things that weren't really clear. Small details but still annoying.

The RO90 sander only came with only two (2) pieces (Round/Delta) of 80 Grit Granit abrasives. Really? Not even a couple more in different grits or even something else other then Granit to try out ?

My dealer stocked only 50 packs at the moment and the lack of 10 packs was impacting an already stretched budget. I would have preferred to spend the same amount of money on several different "10 packs" instead of just two "50 packs"

That's all I can comment on until the PRO5 arrives hopefully this week and I pickup a few more abrasives, so until then "The Pipes are Calling..."

Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

Glad you are enjoying the new tools.

Other than waiting for the Pro5 what is next?

Seth

There are dealers, notably Toolnut/Festoolproducts and Bob Marinosbesttools, that both sell various packs of ten for most of the sanders.  Plus they are great to work with.

Festool Nirvana probably has the best deal for an assortment of Granat D125 discs:

Pre-selected pack of 50 pieces for $38 in P40-P400.

Custom pack of 50 pieces for $40 and you get to pick the grits in multiples of five discs per each grit.

Yes, get that smaller hose for the Hand Sanding Blocks. They mate together so well and it IS so much lighter and flexible than the standard AS hose for that application.
[welcome] to the FOG as well.

Thanks for the info about the sandpaper options

I happened to visit another festool dealer that I had no idea about and ended spending more money ... no 10 packs but got some other great stuff along with some 50 packs of Ganat & brilliant that I will need now for my stairs
