Grain Filler Recommendations

At some point in the not too distant future  [embarassed] we're going to paint our hickory kitchen cabinets.  Does anyone have any experience with grain fillers that they would recommend?    I'm going to be adding a built up crown on top of the cabs that will likely be made out of poplar and mdf and I'd like the transition between the old cabinets and the new trim to be seamless.  Filling the pores in the hickory will be a key part of that.

I'm not a fan of grain filling. I do keep this around, just incase.

What will the finish be?

Tom, that would make two of us but the hickory is so porous that I have to fill it.  Not sure if I'll be using paint or tinted lacquer yet.  My spray set up doesn't do well with paint.  I don't have a large enough tip and I've had a hard time tracking down a tip that would work.  What I've had to do in the past is thin the product and I've never really been pleased with the results.  I'll probably use a tinted lacquer.

Look into tinted Kem Aqua +.

A pot is a must to shoot unthined latex.
