I just got a guide stop (492601) today and wondered what the screws in the bottom/outside are for?  One of mine has come loose in shipping.  It looks like the nut simply presses into place, so I can jam it back in, but I can't figure out what these are for.  It does not look like these can be easily adjusted since there is some kind of thread lock (black) on the loose screw, and there is nothing being attached with the screw.  Is the head of the screw used as a reference surface somehow?  If so, how do you deal with using 2 of them?

OK, makes sense.  I don't have any guide rails yet (got it to support edge cuts on the other side of the rods), but I can see how this would work.  Thanks.

Followup questions:

Is it common for the nuts to come loose from the base during shipping?  Should I be concerned that after I jam it back in that it may come loose again over time, so I really should return the item?

Festool products are designed to be calibrated and last a long time under the toughest conditions. As well, they are designed to be repaired instead of thrown away. As long as you have all of the parts, you should be golden.
