Has the MFS Router Template System been discontinued?

It is a shame to see another innovative tool being discontinued here.  I think the MFS system, like the 8mm router bits that disappeared several years ago, need to be experienced to be appreciated.  I think Festool would sell more of these if people had better access to hands-on demos, perhaps dealers suggesting that router customers "check out" the way these enhance work flow.

Shane, whatever happened to the video of the twin-OF1400 setup w/MFS we did in Advanced router class in 2010?  That was truly innovative, even though it required a "crew" of 3 to operate safely.  That experience is what led me to buy the MFS items I have.

I hope that Festool brings out 100 grit Granat for the RTS400, since I used the Brilliant to fill in this strange gap in the Granat line for this sander.

Also, it would be great if they ran a close-out sale on the 2000mm MFS profiles, though I notice that Toolnut is currently out of stock of this length.

Will this mean the MFS will be discounted by the vendors?  If so, I might need to get a set and a couple of extra rails.  I'll keep my eye out and see if they get discounted.

Festool USA will no longer be importing the MFS, so the dealers will run out of stock at some point.  My guess is that Festool USA and dealers never hold many MFS sets in stock, so if you really want a set I wouldn't wait.

FWIW, Amazon is currently selling the MFS700 set for $350 new.  Most other dealers have not discounted the prices on the MFS yet. But the first few to jump on this may get the price and Amazon's mystery pricing scheme's may raise the price afterwards.

I looked and on my end, the Amazon price is indeed $350, but not in stock. Bummer!

Temporarily out of stock. Order now and we'll deliver when available. We'll e-mail you with an estimated delivery date as soon as we have more information.--

I ordered it a month ago at a slightly higher price. It was also out of stock, but I got it within 6 days of placing the order and the website never indicated in stock before or after I received my order. The box wasn't the usual Amazon box either, which may indicate it was drop shipped.

Good to know! I figured with a discontinued product, they would never be able to actually fill an order... might be worth an "experiment"!

Shane,
What's the story on the 1000 mm extrusions? Will they become a stocking item again or are they gone?

[member=44099]Cheese[/member], well, we did about 15 minutes ago. Looks like someone snagged them already. So, we're out and won't be getting more.

Let the games begin!

That's funny Edward...because I just snagged the 2000 versions instead.  [cool]

Shane,
How many of the 700 template kits do you have left?  Do I need to make up my mind soon?

Regards,
Gerald

[member=20329]Gerald_D[/member], looks like we have a decent number of them. Obviously, demand is unpredictable and we've already sold out of 3 of the SKUs just since I posted this. But, I would think you have a day or two at least.

Thanks Shane- I didn't want to risk missing out so I just placed my order.  Appreciate the notification of the special pricing!

I just snagged the 700 extensions from another, as yet unnamed source, but who will presumably be making a formal announcement of their entry into these sweepstakes shortly.  Man, pretty soon it's gonna be like Panic in Needle Park around here for Festool junkies looking for that special fix only the MFS can give them:

These are still being sold in Europe, right?  (I have everything except the 1000, but would hold off unless a) I was able to find a dealer selling for a discount, or b) they were going to be discontinued completely worldwide, in which case I would buy.)

Yikes...seems like Edward & Cheese are now full fledged members of Needle Park.  [eek]
