Help with drawer slides

Wasn’t sure where I could/should post this request, hope here is okay.

I am replacing side mounted drawer slides in a dresser I made with longer ones from a different company. I replaced the cabinet member slide component with the longer slide but forgot I hadn’t replaced the drawer member yet. I connected the drawer with cabinet member to check if adjustment was needed and all worked well...I thought! I attempted to detach or remove the drawer and the lever locking mechanism will not release. Is there a way to disassemble the latch while the two members are connected so I can remove the drawer? I can press the levers but that does not release the two parts. The drawer member component is liberty and the cabinet member is Richelieu. I could leave it as is and the slides work but would need a magnet to keep the drawer closed as it’s not long enough to lock into the back. Don’t really want to do deliver the dresser like that. Any suggestions?

My suggestion would be not to use Home Depot slides if you are a professional

I have both brands in my shop and will check in a bit when i got back to do some paperwork. Have you tried really bending the lever. I find sometimes i have to push it much harder then I would expect and give the drawer a little jerk forward while i hold the lever. Also usually either up r down one way will work while the other wont. Just a thought.

Will follow up after i look at the two in the shop but I would think it would still release.

I have pressed the levers upward and downward as hard as I can even attempting to use a flat head screwdriver to apply even more pressure with no luck. Is it possible to disassemble the locking mechanism while the members are engaged?

I don't blame the manufacturer for this as it's my own doing by mixing the two different slides components that were never meant to be interchangeable. No,I am not a professional I don't think a professional would do an inattentive knucklehead thing like this but thanks for your post.

Accidental mismatching has happened a few times in our shop and I can tell you that they can be extremely hard to get apart. The cabinet member may not survive the experience, but the drawer side is fairly tough. The plastic lever is the weak point there, be careful while prying on it.
