Help with hoses shopping list

I'm trying to figure out what hoses I need to order for a CMS OF router solution.

I intend to buy a CMS GE with a CMS-OF and an OF 1010. I have a CTL SYS (which has a 90 degree bend by the hose's entrance).

As I am buying a hose (or hoses), I'd also like to grab the opportunity of getting myself a new smooth hose, which I will then use as my main hose with my circular saw / sander / general use.

I reckon that my dust extraction shopping list should be:
1) Festool Smooth Antistatic Suction Hose D 27
2) Festool Antistatic Y Piece D 50 -- which should fit my old D 27 hose.

[I could buy the Festool Extraction Set for Compact Modular System, but this wouldn't get me the shiny new smooth hose.]

This should allow me to move the 90 degree fitting to the new smooth hose and use it as my general purpose hose. (and use the old hose for the other side of the Y when I need it).

Questions:
- Why does the Festool Extraction Set for Compact Modular System have 2 different diameter hoses? Does the CMS OF require the bigger diameter? (If so, the rest of the questions are moot, as I will need to buy this and not get a smooth hose into the bargain.)
- Is the shopping list correct, or do some bits come with the CMS GE / CMS-OF / OF 1010?
- Is it simple to fit the new smooth hose to the 90deg angle piece of the old ribbed hose?
- Does the "base/single" end of the Y adaptor fit directly into the CTL SYS, or will I need a third "leg" of hose?

Thanks for any light anyone can shed on this!

The CMS hose set has one size to hook to the router (27mm) and one size that hooks to the fence (36mm).
I purchased the CMS-VL set and it came with the two hoses(not anti-static) and the Y connector.
The Y actually fits right into the dust port on my CT26 - not sure about the CTL SYS opening size.

I'm fine with the non 'smooth' hoses hooked up to the CMS setup.  The whole package makes it much cheaper than buying separate anti-static hoses and I can just leave the gray hoses hooked to the CMS.
Then I just switch from the Y at the CT to my 36mm green hose when I want to hook up a saw or sander.

Thanks [member=65755]jarbroen[/member]. With further research also on my side, it looks like I'll need to order the smooth hose separately. Crazy price for a length of tubing.

I think I'll wait until the CMS-OF and CMS-GE arrive, to see what's in the boxes, before ordering anything else.

Thanks for your help.

No problem. :)
For the CMS I bet you'll find that the non smooth hoses are fine.  With the tool being stationary there's noting to catch the hose on.

I've been tempted to get one of the smooth hoses for use with saw and sander though.  Can't count how many times I've caught the regular hose on the edge of something.
Same thing holding me back - the cost.

The new hoses are nice and much more flexible. I eliminated the "catching" on my older hoses by sleeving them with FlexoPET. I use silicone extreme tape to secure the ends of the flex sleeve. These sleeves have been on my hoses for over a year and no damage, and that silicone tape holds true.

You might be interested in taking a look athttp://festoolownersgroup.com/festo...ing-out-the-warehouse-and-more-items-on-sale/ for the sleeved hose (which rids you of the cable catching on stuff).

The 37mm (bigger diameter part of the extraction set) is less prone to get clogged by the bigger chips produced by a router, it also delivers more suction at the blade when using the CMS with a TS plate (where it's connected to the saw). The CMS-OF is made to connect the 37mm end to the fence (and the 27mm end to the OF 1010).
Get the 488292.

AFAIK no extraction hose comes with these items.

Does the "base/single" end of the Y adaptor fit directly into the CTL SYS, or will I need a third "leg" of hose?
The VAC side of all hoses (and the Y adaptor) is 50mm, it fits all Festool vacs. Taking off the hose garage 'systainer' from the CTL SYS makes it fit anything (straight and corner connectors for all hoses, 452898 Y adaptor, 488292 CMS Dust Extraction Hose Set).

You won't have much fun with the CTL SYS for CMS-OF use though, as a router will fill the small bag in no time.
A CTL SYS works OK though for an OF when combined with a cyclone separator.

Thanks [member=53905]Gregor[/member] , that clears a lot of things up! I bought the 488292, as you suggested. And will fork out eventually for the smooth hose in addition.

Hmm. Suspected that might be the case :-(

With extremely limited space, I've been researching small / collapsible cyclone solutions. I'll start another thread with a possible solution.

FlexoPET...

Thanks [member=59578]CADru[/member] . I think I'll just bite the (very expensive) bullet and get the Festool hose...

But I'll keep FlexoPet in mind for future projects. Question: does it heat shrink, or do you just pull it lengthwise to tighten it around the tube you're covering?

Not a heat shrink solution. Certain sizes cover a range of tubing/hose diameters. The 1.25" I used expands and contracts to work for both the 27/32 mm and the 36 mm hoses. Sorta works like a Chinese finger trap. You can use a heat shrink tube for securing the ends but never had much luck with that

I do have the Flexo PET (Festool Green color) and tried it out on one of my hoses.  It helped with the snagging but made the hose less flexible.  I still have more of the Flexo and I could try it again but I made a boom arm for my CT that helps way more at my cutting station.

I tried using the heatshrink method for the ends first.  Didn't work out so well.
The silicon tape that sticks to itself worked way better to finish off the ends of the Flex tubing.
