I've had this modem in my cart and it just had a sizable price drop. I've been wanting to dump my Xfinity/Comcast rental for a while. I recently upgraded to a better modem. Just wondering what the computer savvy think about this modem.

It's plenty good - so far as I know, it's not super susceptible to needing to be restarted.  Most residential connections won't use anywhere near the 2Gbps throughput on that one, so if your connection is more like 300 or 500Mbps, you could save a few bucks and get a lesser version. There's also a good chance you don't need 4 ethernet ports coming out the back of it, but they're not adding much cost, I wouldn't think.

Once you reach a certain level of quality, the modem is rarely what causes issues on a residential network, and this is certainly above that threshold.

Do you have a modem/router combo from Comcast now?  Or is this to replace a modem only (and you're keeping your existing router)?

Disclaimer: I don't know how Comcast does the voice or if you need that at all.  I'll assume it's compatible with whatever services you have.

Most of the time I now have around 240Mbps WiFi in most areas we used mobile devices and 1/2 to 1/3 that outside. But, before we had to constantly switch which WiFi router we used and now we can just stick with one. We do have a 1GB option from Xfinity for more $$$ but don't have that.

Sounds perfect.  Again, I'm always in favor of not paying to rent equipment from Comcast ($180ish per year to rent something as inexpensive as a modem is offensive to me).  I'm also mostly always in favor of splitting the modem/router (which is kind of the default, once you get away from the cable company's equipment).

If you're not using the phone, you could go with the 1Gps version and save $40, but the bottom line is that some version of this modem should do you very nicely.
