I just put together my new shop helper :-) I liked the Festool wcr1000 but wouldn't house my DD....... So I came up with this! I just put it together and as I use it will add things I find useful. Anything you might add or change ?? All comments welcome.

The only thing I would change is swapping that Patriot banner with a 49er banner!    [poke]

LOL.      Other then that.  Great job!  Looks clean and helpful.  And the fact that you but the "Y" piece in is a nice touch.

Looks well thought out.

I also really like the design and the Y connector is a great idea and out of the way there. Simple to connect up to the Kapex and away you go.
Like the roof of your shed What is it. Aircraft Hanger?

I looked it up wow they made Between 150,000 and 170,000 Quonset hut during World War II.
Love the shape- I have an inflatable tent that shape though mine is only 7,5 x 9m.
We use it for project to show kids where their clothes come from and what its like working in a Sweat Shop.
It needs a blower constantly filling it with air, so a bit noisy.
Sorry off subject

Really great ideas, thanks for showing.  I can't wait until I get a free day to make one one of these days. I mostly just want a place to put the ts55 or the 1400 where I won't trip on the hose and have it crash onto the concrete.  It's happened with my ts55 many times.  I think having something similar as to what you made would be so handy.  That saw sure is durable, thankfully the 1400 hasn't taken any falls yet. Go Pats!

Pip,
That is exactly what the Y is for......... Drive the cart over and hookup the bigger hose to the kapex or drive the cart over to the assembly table and use the boom arm for what ever?? I know I will be adding racks for drills and sanders. Possibly clamp rack?

About the quanset hut..... It was here when we bought the house, well the concrete slab was here and the metal structure was together but my son and I tightened every nut and bolt in the place (thousands) built the gable ends, added the doors, office, storage above, electricity, and a wood burning stove for heat. Only problem is no insulation (except gables) stays pretty warm with a fire and not long to warm up either. Over all it's a great space but defiantly has its challenges  [tongue]

Looks good.  Nice colors on the magnetic tool bar!  Couple questions.  The bottom platform that the pvc pipe rest on, how did you attach to the bottom of the CT?  What is the hose wrap used around the vac hose and electric cord?  Why?  How do you like the Kapex mount you constructed? Thanks.

The magnetic tool bar is just neon duct tape covering the yellow tape it came with. The bottom support,  If you flip the ct 26 over there are six protruding "rods" for lack of a better word with tapered holes..... So I laid out and drilled a backwards mirror image matching the holes and tested the fit of some "spax" screws. I was suprised of the grab and stoutness of the fit! Very strong! More than enough of what is needed for the boom arm.
The wrap I found on eBay.  and is 2 1/4" PET. I purchased a 100' roll so I can wrap all my Festool hoses so they do not catch on the edge of everything and it looks cool!
The Paulk ultimate miter saw stand I built is awesome! . I made some changes to his design and am very impressed with the unit.  I love it and am going to build the ultimate work bench shortly

Nice. I like the way you have the D50 hose tamed.

Do you have an elbow at the top of the dust deputy?  If so, where did you get it?  Or did you just make a tight bend with the hose?  Is that a shortened Festool hose between the CT and the Dust Deputy or did you find another option that works well?

There is an elbow...... I modified a sch. 40 elbow plumbing fitting from HD and made it as low profile as possible and sanded the ID to fit over the DD. The hose is just a cut piece of a standard shop vac hose that I cut to fit and added the PET wrap along with green electrical tape to match all of my Festool hoses. :-) worked out great!
I did use the cart last night to rip down some sheet stock, worked awesome and had plenty of reach and a safe place to put my 55 when done.
Hope I answered your question?
Cheers, John
