Hose with air gate

When sanding cabinets, sometimes the suction of the CT26 is too much even at minimum suction. It would be great if Festool made a hose that had an air gate the you could adjust, just like the air flow gates on barbecue burners. Then you could control the pressure on the sander and make floating the sander easier. Or maybe a custom adapter that you could put on the end of the hose. That would work as well. It definitely  would affect the amount of dust left over, but a quick vacuum with a brush at full strentgh would solve that problem.

One option I use is the blast gate that Festool makes. I agree that even at the lowest setting the ct overpowers my ETS125 on sheet goods.

How does the blast gate reduce air flow/reduce suction pressure at the sander pad?

The blast gate has a sliding sheet that obstructs the air flow like a valve. Fully open there is no reduction in the size of the air passage but as it is slides close the size of the opening is reduced as is the amount of air that can pass through the opening at a given time until the slide is fully engaged and then no air passes.

One might go from the CT with a 50mm hose and then convert to 26mm hose.

Another thought is to use some PVC pipe to create an air inlet that would be inserted before the connection to the tool or at the CT connection point to have another source to pull air form. Sort of like the suction reducer on canister type vacuum cleaners. This is unusually at the elbow in the hose and has a sliding cover.

You could put the blast gate on one side of a Y-connector with the hose on the other side. Open the gate to "spill" suction.

The plastic curved hand tube has an air gate of a sort built in.  Just slide open the green gate to bleed off some suction.  Maybe you could figure out a way to incorporate the tube somehow.
