Hoses for Boom Arm Set and CT Cyclone

Is anyone on here using the CT Cyclone with a Boom Arm Set?  What hoses are you using?

The 50mm hose that comes with the boom arm set seems very cumbersome, with the 3m hoses that I have.  I have thought about using a 5m hose directly from the CT Cyclone up the boom arm, but I'm not sure if the length will be OK - I don't want it to be too long or too short.  And if I buy a 5m hose, I'm wondering if I should get a 27mm or 36mm hose.

Decisions, decisions.  Anyone have any input and/or suggestions for me?

Thank you in advance,

Andy

Hi Andy,

I’ve been using that set up since October.  The 36mm x 5m was my choice and if I had to do it over, I’d do it again. I removed the 50mm hose extension that comes with the boom kit as it was a bit long for my liking with the 5m hose attached to it however even with it removed I enjoy a bit more hose length than I had with the stock 27mm x 3m hose and the 50mm extension combined.  I’m not constantly pulling the vac around and the hose is not all over the floor with my current set up.  The 36mm hose does better with large chips and shop clean up as it is less prone to clogging.  One thing to note, I have a ct26 in my shop where the cyclone normally lives and a second ct26 for job sites.  If I take the cyclone to a job site, I reinstall the 50mm extension hose to the vac in the shop as the hose in the boom arm is firmly attached and it is too short to reach the vac port  when the cyclone has been removed.  I’d rather do that then readjust the boom arm rigging just to have to readjust it again when the cyclone comes back to the shop.

I hope this helps!

James,

That was exactly the type of reply I was looking for!  I think that pretty much settles it, unless anyone else has any words of wisdom.

Thank you!

Andy

I keep my thicknesser close to the ct and find the 50mm extension easy to unhook from the 27mm hose and plug into the planner.

I just noticed that Rockler now has 2-1/2” anti-static hose for around $30 @ 10 feet. But that don’t have any anti-static fittings as far as I can tell.
