How do you make the first square cut on sheet goods?

Ok, maybe I am overthinking this.  I have used both a 3-4-5 measurement and a 12" Speed square to make the first cross cut on plywood but I am not sure I am happy with either method.  How do you square up your first cross cut on sheet goods?  This is assuming a full 4x8 sheet.

The factory edges of most of the stuff we buy are square enough for my use, so I just measure parallel. And if it's narrow enough, I rip to width first, then scms; and in the near future, mft3 for the slightly wider stuff.

must be one heck of a big scms for 4x8 sheet goods! ;D

No, just about any will do  ;D He said "first crosscut, I just do a rip-cut beforehand. (A bit like falling falling from a 20 ft ladder... it doesn't hurt that much if you were standing on the second step from the ground when it happened ;))
