How do you store your cms inserts?

Hey all,

I'm in need of some inspiration on how to store my cms inserts and side tables etc. I have a small shop and only wall hanging space available.

I recently purchased the mft3 vl unit along with a few bits! [wink]

Here is what I need to hang:
Ts55 insert (maybe with saw in)
Cms of insert (maybe with 1400 in)
Cms of fence, feather board thing, hood thing etc!
Sliding side table
CS70 fence
Mitre gauge and fence.

Show me what you've done!

Cheers
Jimmy

I'm no help ... my solution was to get a GE as well as the VL so the CMS TS with the TS75 sits assembled with all of its extensions, the CMS OF sits in the VL assembled and the CMS plate for the jigsaw sits on the floor (with me considering another VL to hang off the other end of the same MFT/3) [embarassed]

.. and yes, I'm screwed for space too.

That sounds like a perfect solution, but an expensive one!

I was thinking about making a cart but I have empty hanging space on my walls so want to use that really.

I did make some crude shelves today that will work for a few bits.

No photos of it, but I used spur shelving with out the shelves just the support arms with some ply screwed to the arms.
I hang, Modules for
TS 75 with saw,
Router module w/Of 2200
Jig saw module w/ jigsaw
CMS Router fence

If I leave the fence on the router module then I have room for another but to hang

Jimmy.

Check out my post from a few months back. I made a smallish cabinet that hangs on the wall and has a drawer and room for 3 inserts.

I stumbled across this solution when I solved another issue.
We had a few metres of handrail to spray varnish after forming with cms but didn't have enough bench space to use for drying.
I bought a couple of lengths of "4x2" CLS and a couple of lengths of 25mm brush pole. I then used a 25mm auger to drill through edge to edge at regular intervals, cut up the brush pole and glued it in all the way.
I just screwed these to my wall uprights and used them to support when drying.
However after we were finished and resetting the shop for another job, stripped the cms and turned round with the insert to place it down and found the drying rack was a perfect place!
Cheap to make, easy to relocate and I've now made another set that clamps onto my roof timbers for extra drying space anywhere.
Hope that helps.

I've done the same as you, the brackets will also easily take the weight of the CMS unit itself as well

Good info. I never though about using the spur shelving to store the CMS unit to.

Thanks man. It's pretty versatile gear. The loading capacity is pretty impressive as well. I acquired a massive amount on an office block fit out about 6 months back. My plan as soon as time allows is to line the garage out with ply and drywall with an upright every 600mm with the drywall sheets butted up. That way it will appear to be imbedded in the wall.

My workable space is laughably small , so by doing this I can create some timber storage racks, and by using the 500mm brackets should be able to store sheet materials as well.

My CMS modules are stored in a corner on dedicated shelves, reason being corners of rooms are very awkward spaces to store things efficiently, but when I take the CMS stand out all the modules are easily accessible.

Removing and installing the TS-55R saw in its module is a nuisance I can do without. I tried it once and immediately decided to get a second TS saw to leave in the CMS module permanently.

I'd also recommend using the CMS stand with the legs folded up or better still removed altogether and using it on a DIY base as it makes it really solid and is a really big improvement. Same goes for the MFT/3.

This is what i had in mind for when we finally move in a few months and i FINALLY get a proper workshop space. For now my CMS gear like all my other tools is stuffed into various cupboards around the flat.

Here's how mine a currently stored. On the wall of the garage with cheap shelf brackets. I have the TS55saw insert and the OF 1400 router inserts from festool, the others I made. Sander, planer, jigsaw. These 3 are not "restrained" just have a lip and the weight holds them in place in the cms. I may make some more inserts for the whetstone grinder/sharpener and other tools at some stage too. Only takes a sec or to to unplug and lift out, very convenient.
