I can't be the only one who cut through (or nearly through) my MFT3. I had just changed the blade and did not set the blade back to the 21 mm setting. In the future, I need to remember to always re-set the depth after changing the blade. It might also help to store the saw at 0 mm setting.

I usually check before each cut (or at the start of cutting), but apparently didn't yesterday.

I was going to order on through Bob Merino's Festools, but I see they are on back order. Anyone have another source?

I hold my hand high as a member of the cut thru my MFT top!  I also earlier this week had some stuff on my mind (later) and actually partially cut thru my front profile.  I tried to laugh but it just didn't come out.  Interrupted my funk for a few seconds though.

I've never cut through my MFT, but I wrote CHECK YOUR DEPTH STUPID on my TS in red sharpie none the less. It's saved me a few times. Especially with the 75.

I didn't go that deep, but deep enough to offend my sensibilities. I painstakingly filled in the cut with 2-part wood epoxy, let it harden, and sanded it smooth. Problem fixed.

Been there, done that  [embarassed]

Cut some 48mm stock and didn't reset the depth limiter when cut 15mm ply right after it. Went clean through the table, but hasn't really bothered me too much. Did realize I was plunging too deep before I went over the table from one edge to the other so the table top stays in one piece even thou there's that kerf wide cut in the middle.

. Subtle..... [wink]

I always cut with a backing sheet and set depth and re check depth every time I cut. People say the MFT top is meant to be cut .. but I like having a pristine surface.

That's OCD for you!

I haven't cut trough my MFT top, but I did cut into a FS800/2 with my OF1010 when I forgot to lock the guide into place.  [embarassed]

You know you can rotate the top, right?

But there is only 3mm left because I cut about 16mm into it. I assume that the table could start sagging at that spot?

I suppose I could brace it by two pieces of wood that go across the cut, secured to the MFT3 by Miller (through) dowels, and then flip the top. Anyone ever do this?

[Edit] On second thought, I don't see why I have to be a slave to precedent. The worst that can happen with my fix is that I will still need a new top, something I may need anyway, so I have nothing to lose.

i did worst....i cut a piece of 1mm titanium and nearing the end of the cut it burnt the mdf top lol. the obvious thing to do is flip the top over as they engineered it to do just that but ill wait it out til this side is more worn out.
