How many holes....

Will my C-12 drill through the ice?

We bought a new 5"  auger and fabbed up and adapter so we could quit hand auging the  holes.  With an underwater camera and a fish finder, you need to drill a lot of holes fast.

I bought a ryobi  [embarassed] because it was a nicad.  That thing did 5 holes in 8" of ice.

I hate to take my c-12 out, for fear of it going down a hole.

This might make for a nice review, especially for the fisherman.

Shane,

I hope members here will chill while you do your in depth investigation and that they don't find anything fishy about the results.

Game on.

If I had a 5" auger, I go out back and test the frozen pond in the back of my house. May just have to use some M80s and a pilot hole instead.

Update on Indy weather conditions for those keeping up-to-date...

Shane, you reversed the Screwed & Mostly Screwed.
I would take the 3 feet of snow over the 2 inches of ice we have.

And you said something in another thread about me being "geographically challenged"?  [wink]

Stay warm brother!

I'd make a lanyard, like a dive light. I hate to leave a C 12 out of any fun...

I'm picturing Darcy with the 5" auger, c12, lanyard combination. Seems ok until the auger meets significant resistance. He'd be spinning around at high velocity, leashed to the whole contraption. I guess he could just take his finger off the trigger. Might be best to leave a little slack in the lanyard to avoid a quick snap of the neck [eek].

Shane,

If you could add the T15 to your research as well it would be appreciated. [big grin]

The lake by my house is just aching for me to set some traps.... of course there is 3 feet of snow on top of the 1ft+(?) of ice...

I don't own a single lithium battery tool.
I have found that they all are less then terrible in the cold.

I am hanging on to my nicad's for as long as possible.
I should start hoarding them before Festool runs out.

Can I get a better bulk price?  [cool]

Don't the Lithium versions of the Festool drills accept the Nicad batteries?

I know the Ryobi tools do, along with some of the other brands...
