How much depth do you need to add to the TS55 dial for the FS/2 Guide Rail?

will the saw actually work of without a rail?

It just makes it that much harder to cut straight, but sure it would work.

No plunge-cuts without one (and a stop) though, according to the docs, for safety reasons...

3/4 ply cut with the rail?

I just set the fast loc, push the adjuster up to the fast loc, release fast loc, done.
