festool abrasives

Was looking to order some abrasives and noticed that the pictures all have one ring of holes around the center hole. The abrasives guide pictures were like that also. I just bought a RO 150 and it has multiple rings of holes around the center hole and the abraisives that came with it had multiple rings of holes. Do I need to specify anything special to make sure whatever I order has all the extra holes?

thnx

All Festool abrasives will work with that respective pad.  The newer hole configuration on the 6" abrasives will work with the old pads and vice versa.  You should see no difference in the quality of your dust collection.

The other option you have is to buy mesh abrasive pads.  The best known are the Mirka Abranet.  They are compatible with all hole patterns and work very well.

Personally, I would stay away from the others.  Norton and 3M, for example, make good products but I would not use them with my Festools.

The abrasives with extra holes are called Multi-Jetstream and all part numbers begin with 496.

Any particular reason why?

Alex,

I wish I could give you a specific reason.  I guess it's just based on my experience with abrasives prior to going with Festool. This experience could be as much a part of the sander as the abrasive.  Just left me with negative thoughts regarding life and quality of finish.
