I really, really do wish...

While I do like the idea of being able to buy tools without Systainers, I do like them for their ability to kep the tools and accessories all together.  For the record, I work almost exclusively in my own shop, not onsite.

On another forum, I read a suggestion to fill unused/unwanted Systainers with concrete and make a flight of stairs.  Kinda like a Tansu.

Perhaps you could also weave your extra plug-it cords into a handy hammock, and use the aforementioned stairs to help you get in and out...

If it were not for Systainers I would be in trouble in my shop/garage.  Everything is on wheels because I probably spend 10 percent f my time shifting tools around when I'm working.  So there are stacks of Systainers on wheels in almost constant motion.  Each stack is organized by type of tool, routers, saws, hand tools, and my favorite/least favorite screws (opening and closing Systainers to find the right fastener because I haven't got around to labeling the contents).  Because of limited shelf and wall space if it were not or Systainers I would not have the tools that make working in my shop enjoyable.  Plus on those occasions when a friend needs a project done I load the Systainers I need in the back of the SUV and I'm off, confident that I have everything I need (like that has ever happened).
