I wish for a TS60R

Or a thinner rail to get that two mm to cut through 50mm material for sure... I don't want to cut thicker than 50mm standard 2" stock with my TS55 which should be made for this maximum capasity, but because the rail eats 5mm away Festool has not given any thought to imperfect wood being twisted in any way.

I think the 55 is on the limit power wise for it's cutting depth ... maybe 5mm more and a turbo button  [big grin]

If you dont mind butchering your saw, I had a load of 165mm blades so took the side cover off my ts55 and ground a tiny bit out on the inside near the top and now have an extra couple of mm's

I do not know about the rest of Europe or NA but in the UK when you buy planed wood that has a nominal thickness of 50 mm then that dimension refers to the original sawn thickness. I can cut planed 4x2 s in the UK with my TS55 (although I am more likely to do it on my Kapex.

Yes, planed 2x4 here is actually 48mm x 96mm, but rough pressure treated lumber is actually 51mm x 102mm and cutting this leaves an irritating 1mm of wood intact...

Of course I can drag my sliding mitre saw out to do that cut, but most of the time I can't be bothered for a couple of boards and end up cutting as far as I can with the TS55 on my MFT/3 and finishing off with a hand saw. Just doesn't turn as nice & smooth than a through cut on the TS. That extra 5-10mm would guarantee a real two inch cutting depth even on a rail and flex a bit over to account for unoptimal lumber that's sold as two inches thick.

I was searching for a hilti 267E circ saw for just that reason - times when you need a bit more depth, like cutting down exterior doors, etc.  The Hilti 267E saw (discontinued 6-7 years ago...) takes a standard 7 1/4" blade, rides on the Festool rails, has good dust collection, dual bevel locks (for superior rigidity compared to standard sidewinders), and a lot more power than the TS55.

So - great compliment to your TS55 saw, but virtually unobtainable in the US.  A little while back, I posted a WTB ad on my local CL and actually found one a guy who had bought one years ago  and wasn't using and bought it from him for $60!  Got it cleaned and adjusted, gonna be a keeper.  In fact, I'm selling off my other jobsite circ saws as the Hilti makes a great knock-around saw as well as a guide rail/sut collection saw here and there.  They sold new for about $350 when they were available.  It's a gear-driven saw, not a direct drive, so it's louder than a normal circ saw, but also has variable speed, so it's well suited for some metal and plastic work too.

Hard to find, but worth it if you can.
