In honor of the Kapex sale, Poll: What kind of stand do you use for your Kapex?

FastCap Best Fence for me.

Which of the FastCap pacakges did you buy (or did you create your own).
The one labeled "KAPEX" looks like it requires the UG Cart anyway.
The one called "PRO 2" seemed to be a good option - I'm assuming you can put a Kapex on that anyway?

I originally bought the Pro 2 (but without the wheels) for my Hitachi saw.  Then I sold that saw and bought the Kapex.  I then purchased the Kapex connectors and wheels from FastCap.  Was an easy change over.

I am planning on using the Paulk Miter Stand. It's simple, it's light and its expandable if it needs to be.

I have my slider mounted on a Sears drawer toolbox with 8" wings on either side fabricated with 8020 extrusions.  This is actually my small setup, I have a Makita 14" chop saw with 16' extensions on either side for fabbing aluminum storefront extrusions, this material comes in 24' lengths.  I use 2 X 2" angle with stick on tapes and a stop block for repetitive cuts.

Seeing a bought a Kapex this week, I can now participate in this poll!!!

#5 - mine will replace my DeWalt on my base cabinets set up, also using the Kreg fence system.
#2 - will just use the DeWalt stand when and/or if needed, which should be like...never....  :)

This stand was built around 1990. Plans were from a mid to late '80s Fine Woodworking.

Over the years:  1) added Kreg stops 2) upgraded casters 3) shortened right side extension. And of course, the Kapex.
I'm liking that stand a lot.

Sawhelper. I don't know if thats a
3,4 or 5. I do know that it makes me smile.

I'm not new to Festool, but I am new to Kapex(I'll be picking it up on Monday!).  Portability is key for me... From truck to job, back to truck, etc.  I have a MFT, but it's just too much of a beast.  For about 15 years, I have used an old workmate bench with my Makita ls1013 and the fences I use are the Sawhelper Ultrafence, which have been fantastic.  I wasn't quite sure how or if I was going to be able to attach the sawhelpers to the Kapex, so if not, the top candidate was the Fastcap fence, but I was hoping not to have to spend another $400.  Then 3 days ago, I discovered the Multiblades brand adapter!!  How nice that somebody makes something for a piece of equipment made by a company that went out of business 6 or 7 yrs ago!  The adapters arrived today and the Kapex will be here on Monday so hopefully it will be a marriage made in heaven.

jclem22,

You may not be new to the FOG, but seeing as this was your first post - Welcome!

When you get everything all set up can you post a picture?

Thanks, Mike A.

Thats my sawhelper post directly above yours. The wings are attached via multiblades' adapter. They are perfect. Atatch firmly and quickly. The slots make ataching crown stops a snap. You will not be dissapointed.

3) A Bosch T4B gravity stand. I had looked at several including DeWalt and Makita. In the end, I though the construction was better on the Bosch (particularly the wings). The only drawback is the weight, but since I don't travel with it much, it's fine. The only things I may do is retrofit a tray to hold some items I like to have within reach, and possibly affix a tape measure to speed up measurements.

For those that chose non-UG mobile stands or non-UG extensions/wings, were there reasons other than price and if so, what were the reasons?

Thanks!

I'm trying to decide between 4 different setups.
UG stand and wings
UG stand and 3 Best Fence sections
MFT mini and 3 Best Fence sections
Best Fence Pro 3

I think I'm leaning towards either the UG/Best fence or the Pro 3.  Just can't decide.

Monju, I did see your pictures of the Sawhelper, but couldn't see how it was attached to the Kapex.  I'm excited to hear that they work so well. Thanks
Mike,  I will post some pics as soon as I can.  Unfortunately,  I'm in eastern MA and we're due for another snow storm Monday(not as big as the 3' we got last week) but it still may be enough to delay my acquisition!  Oh well.....

I'm using a Trojan MS 2000. With the optional roller support wings . I like it because it is taller than any other miter saw stand I have seen. Much taller than the MFT mini or UG. It folds up easily and rolls nicely with the 10" pneumatic tires. Also the material support is very large with this setup.
I am going to build a Ron Paulk total station soon

Price is big

I like the fastcap system for the same money better (imperial+crown stops) and it is expandable.

Did you buy the fastcap system?  I'm thinking about getting the Best Fence Pro 3 for the Kapex.  I'd like to hear some more of what you think about the fastcap if you have one.

Ditto for me!  I'd love some more info on the FastCap system.  I was looking at the Pro 2...
Seems like it gives a similar setup to the UG+Wings, but you get wider wings and better stops.

Also - A lot of people comment on how they love the wings, but haven't heard comments on the fastcap cart itself.  Is it worth it to buy the whole pro package, or just but a dewalt or a bosch stand and buy the FastCap wings.

Just FYI - I'm looking for a stand that will be mainly stationary in my shop.  I'll move it once in a while but not very often

#2

UG cart and wings with a dedicated CT-midi. Only have a small space in a three car garage. So i need something that can fold up and take a little space a possible.
