Installing Ultimate Dust Deputy to CT26 having a problem

Hi,

I have a CT26, and an ultimate dust deputy.  The thing that has me vexed currently though is that I can't get the UDD to fit/latch on properly to all 4 of the garage hose clasps.

The two that are along the same side of the festool are fine.  Lift up, latch on as expected.

The other two green latches located at front and rear (both have the problem) will not latch onto the anchor points of the UDD assembly.  The only thing I can see is that possibly the slit or groove that is part of the protruding "nub" on the UDD is either cut too narrow, and or cut to shallow.

I've done a search on this site, and blew up a couple pictures of other installations, and their clasps seem to seat in such a fashion that the clasp would be close to flush with the box of the UDD.  As you may see in my pictures, it doesnt appear that my groove is cut deep enough to allow that.

When I try to "clip on" either clasp, I'd say I can engage it maybe 10-20% of the way, and that's it.

I wonder if I can ask the help of anyone with a similar arrangement that works, to snap a pic of theirs, or maybe just look at yours and tell me if your anchor points look similar to mine, or different?

As a result of only having the two side latches actually engage, the UDD is not firmly attached and subject to falling off and I'd like to get that sorted out.

I had the problem too. Just cut those slots deeper. However, it will never be as secure as a Systainer.

I’ve got the newer ct26e vac with the slide tabs instead of the flip tabs. The dust deputy fits and locks in, but there is excessive slop between it and the dust deputy, I stuck a wedge shaped shim between the dust deputy base and the hose garage opening to take up the slack. This worked fine for a few years till the hose garage broke in several places; that dust deputy unit is heavy and one tends to push and pull the vac around by using the top of the dust deputy dust bin; the hose garage plastic was too weak to handle the load placed on it by moving the vac this way, so if you do manage to get the dust deputy secured to your hose garage, be careful moving the vac around by pushing on the top of the bin. When I get some time I suppose I’ll order the latest T-LOC hose garage; I’m told this is a stronger design. Meanwhile my dust deputy sits precariously atop my Ct26e upon some makeshift plywood scrap supports - but it still works!

I have the UDD on my CT36, and didn't have any problem with the fit or stability.  I checked my UDD, and the slots run the length of the tabs to the side of the UDD.  As Michael K states, cut the slots on the two tabs so they are flush with the side of the UDD.

I had the same problem and called Oneida. They pointed me to pdf on their website about making the tab slots deeper on the Dust Deputy. I did that and was still very unsatisfied with the results. I ended up cutting a piece of 3/4" plywood in the shape of a Systainer bottom and mounting some really nice 3D printed Systainer feet from [member=40705]Ben_[/member] on this forum. It uses the T-Loc instead of the classic latches. I used some stainless 1/4-20 screws, sealing washers and T-nuts to fasten the Dust Deputy to the plywood. I'm MUCH happier with the results. I can pick the whole vacuum/Dust Deputy assembly up by the handles on the Dust Deputy. I also added a hose hanger to the side. I don't have detailed pics, but here's the whole thing put together.

So, thanks for the replies.  I tried to call Oneida, and couldnt get through.  Emailed them a few days ago and have not had a response, which is surprising.

Anyway, I did cut the slot/grooves that make up the front and rear anchor points, and am now able to clasp all 4 of the garage hose clamps to the Oneida box.

Just updating in case anyone else searches for a similar issue.

It fits the Dust Deputy well. I bought it on Amazon, but unfortunately they're out of stock. Hopefully, they'll get more in!
