International Contest: Write a review for your chance to win a Rotex 150!

Congratulations to the winners, thanks to all those who entered and  who do reviews in general.I imagine there's a fair bit of time and effort goes into it all.Cheers [smile]

Mr. Wood:

If you're a Junkie, you should feed your habit...

You are a rare talent. You obviously put a lot of effort into making near professional quality videos for our benefit and I, for one, sincerely appreciate all your effort.

Thanks,

Tom

I just want to say thanks to all that participated in this contest.  I'm sure it took a bit of work, but it was a fun event for us bystanders.  Even though there were only two Rotex sanders, you all are winners for the experience.  Again, THANKS.    [thumbs up]

Congrats to the winners and thanks to ALL that put reviews together.  They help in making buying (and getting the most out of the tools once you own them).

I thoroughly enjoyed the contest and I want to thank Shane, Festool and all of the participants.  I certainly learned a couple of new things and hopefully someone learned something from the two reviews I submitted.  I like submitting reviews for the overall benefit of the community and I hope to add more in the future as I acquire more tools and get a chance to use them.  I also hope that there are more contests in the future...the only thing better than a new Festool is a new FREE Festool!

Congrats again to the winners!

Scot

I entered with a written review early on when there weren't many entries. I did intend to review a new NAINA (yet) product, but I didn't have the finances in place to buy it. I've now ordered it & am awaiting delivery. I'm still planning on writing the review, but I would have liked to get it done in time for the competition.

I could complain that this is the first competition eligible to members outside of the US, and yet both prizes were won by Americans! But that would be nothing more than sour grapes on my part! [tongue]

Seriously, congrats to the winners, and I think going by the number of new reviews it has been a very successful & worthwhile contest.

If it hadn't been for this contest, I probably would never have written a full review as I didn't feel I could contribute something worthwhile. This contest encouraged me to try, and I've had some great feedback which has in turn encouraged me to do more in the future.

I agree with Footstool, I already have a Rotex & i struggle with photos & vids.

Johnny beat me to it, it was an international contest but both prizes stayed in the States ?

Well done Greg & Junkie, you both put a lot of effort into your reviews & deserve to win.  They were all very informative to read & watch, not just by the 2 winners but by all that submitted.

Shane, well done on this & i hope you continue the competitions & i will try to enter the next one.

Thanks everyone, Woodguy.

I concur, but, would just like to adjust your post to say " We are all winners for the experience" as we all have learnt something and those that entered will no doubt have their hard work admired by future and existing members of this great forum. [thumbs up]
It has been of huge interest, to me.
Cheers, Rob.

Thanks all for the congrats, and a big high-five to Greg (GPowers).
Thanks Festool and especially Shane for the contest itself.

I'm very excited to get it this week.  Most definitely there will be a review and comparison coming up.

I have the perfect project for this sander:  a 4" x 24" x 60" hunk of Yew.  It is in *rough* condition-- rough milling; exposed to the elements for a while; and full of "character" marks.  It is WAY too big to put through my planer.  And, it is hard as a rock, which is discouraging for hand planing.  So the Rotex is going to get a workout trying to transform this into a slab bench seat.  I hit just a corner of it with the RO125 and 50 grit... the wood is the color of maple syrup.

You don't by chance own a  RO 125 do you? I would love to see a comparison between those two.

Glad you asked  Wood_Junkie because the only other Festool sander I have is the ETS 150/5. So needless to say I'm very excited to get my hands on the Rotex 150. Plus I have a Systainer/3 full of 150mm sand paper.

You may want to consider selling the 150/5 and getting a 150/3 to go with the Rotex 150.

I found I could get the same finish a 150/5 could give with the Rotex 150. So I use the150/5 followed by the 150/3 for almost every project now. The 150/3 does give a better final surface then the 150/5.  Although a small difference, it is a noticeable one and was worth changing to the 150/3 for me.
