Is Domino R the old model and RQ the new fence?

Hi I’m 31 and Ive done primarily new construction cabs and trim for 7 years - remodel and other finish work for 10. New to the Festool club and I dove in: bought a kapex 120 (rip), Rotex 150, Ts75 4 days ago. Went to visit kids 4 hrs away and stopped at Loveland woodcraft. Manager wouldn’t sell me a domino because he wanted me to wait until 3/25 to get the RQ? As I said I never owned the original domino but I hear things about the upgraded fence.to be more efficient and faster.

I’m impatient so I bought my domino 2 days ago from my local dealer knowing it’s the old model. I just moved to a mountain ski town. Dealer and lumber yard are a joke and so rude I’d rather not give them clients material money let alone my tool money

Well, looks like you got the new one that comes out next week.

I guess if you really hate those guys, you could call Festool USA and ask them this same question to let them know one of their dealers sold the unit before its official release.

But you got the new one with the updated fence, so they might be rude but you got the tool before everyone else...

I am pretty sure FT would not mind a local dealer making an in-person sale like this *that* much if the older model was no longer in stock .. posting it on etail is a different discussion.

As mentioned, RQ is the new model the old one was just 500 Q ( Q indicates a PlugIt cable).

Guess you should be nicer to your local dealer after all ..

I would thank them for this when you drop by next time. You may be surprised how much a nice word means in those local shops. It is likely you were not "taken-in" simply because you are not a local they know so they were suspicious. This is normal. It will settle. Enjoy your new toys!

To put it simply...this was a gift.

I'd schmooze these folks because who knows what else they will release prematurely.
