Is my CT up to the task?

I am getting a Hammer A3-31 in a couple of weeks.  My current DC system is pretty simple.  It's a CT 22 hooked up to a Dust Deputy with a 36mm hose.  It works well with my Hammer K3 saw but I'm wondering if it will work with the J/P?  My old planer was a Dewalt 735 with the blower so it blew the dust into the DD and it would actually pressurize the bucket.  The Hammer doesn't have this blower so I'm a bit concerned the CT will have the power needed to properly operate with the J/P.  I have a full size Jet DC stored off site because it took up too much room in my garage.  If necessary, I'll bring it back but I would like to avoid it if possible.

Bring back the Jet, the CT can't even come close to what you will need. Former A3-31 owner, now AD741 owner.

Since you already own a Festool CT, give it a try. Your Hammer table saw generates dust, but jointer/planers generate a lot of chips.

Just as well you do own a Jet DC, which should be more effective collecting dust and chips from a table saw as well as the Hammer J/P.

I'll give it a try but if it doesn't work, it will mean another garage makeover and rearranging.  [crying] [crying]  It never stops...

Hmmm.  Junk, you were correct.  I got my Jet out of storage, hooked it up to the table saw and turned it on to see what it get out.  Whoosh! A huge amount of sawdust came flying out!  No more CT for big tools.  Not made for it.  It would have really struggled with the A3-31.  Great advice!

Good Stuff Howard, the CT vacs are great tools in the shop for what they were designed for. Planing a 1/16" off a wide board, 8' long, with the A3-31 would overflow your CT before the board finished. Now you can have everything in place for the new addition. Another hint is to make sure the hose is long enough to be easily moved and connected from one side of the machine to the other. This will save you aggravation going from jointing to planing mode. For me the easiest way was to have the hose routed over the the lifted tables when in planing mode.

I'm using a 20' hose so it will reach pretty much everywhere I need it.  I managed to move some things around and put it in an out of the way corner of the garage.  At least wifey can't complain about that.  [tongue]
