It arrived today

Bob,

I recognized that the change from an ISA to a stocking dealer has placed a higher level of burden on you.  The release of the Domino all at the same time with demand stimulated by the internets ability to disseminate information on a world wide basis not only created a high demand, but a unique situation.

The problem you created is that you made promises.  Promises create expectations...  In my case you made it worst by not apologizing when I called you on it....  You said basically the same thing as above... I did the best I could... They all went to UPS on Saturday... Saturday lead to Monday...  The other problem is some where shipped on Friday...  Instead of saying, or calling and saying "I screwed up...." that your 6 month standing order was lumped in with the rest....  That's all you need to do.

I had made a decision not to post on my frustration with the Domino order.  The timing of Lou's post pushed me over top....  The delay on shipping the Domino 'cause me to delay the departure of a trip because I couldn't leave a $1,000 tool on the porch for 5 days.  Worst yet was the loss of the job which would have gone a long way to justify the expense of the Domino at this time... was festering....... When Lou, who only decides on Tues. to order posts he has already taken delivery....  My ego kicked in...  I meant still to keep any reference to you ambiguous.  For that I do apologize as I do realize in spite of my personal frustration it is your livelihood.

Being in the shipping and receiving business for the last 25 years UPS is by far the best for shipping across the US. Tracking is what I pay for and I expect to be able to see that item no matter where it is in the US any time during the day or night.

I recently sent a time-sensitive item by priority mail and allowed a full week (should have been delivered within 3 days based on sending and receiving locations).  USPS lost it somewhere, found it about a month later and delivered it.  But then, too, I had FedEx next day lose a VERY large check (someone else's that I was handling) one time and it never showed up at all.

I guess you take your chances any old way, but I'll take UPS or FedEx any day vs USPS, any grade, any "guarantee".

Jim.

Out of curiosity, were you promised a specific delivery date by Bob? Seriously, I mean, getting the Domino within a week of its US release seems like a good deal to me. That's faster than most any other tool I have ever ordered. In all honesty, is this a case of unrealistic expectations?

If Festool had stuck with an April 1 release date, like they had scheduled up until close to the end, instead of the March 30 date, wouldn't you be in the same boat? Therefore, wouldn't your trip have been screwed up and that job lost anyway?

Also reading Bob's post, it doesn't look like your order was lumped in with the rest, just lumped in with another group of early orders by "general date order" as opposed to "strict date order". That's how I read the post anyway.

I never count on specific delivery dates unless I check the status that morning and see "out for delivery". Even then I only hope :)
