...... That festool has not yet upgraded the kapex, new more powerful and reliable motor, detente override, flat table or base, improvement of safety trigger and blade guard. I mean really $1500 come on. Plus all if not some of the improvements should be added for free to existing kapex owners.

That make little sense. I agree it is time for an upgrade, but no current user deserve a free upgrade. And anyone buying a 1500 tool does there research, if not its on them.

The saw works, some claim its the best, just because there are things that can be made better and may show up in upgraded newer version doesn't mean current users should get those upgrades. If that were law no company would ever have any reason to make things better.

Do you get a free upgrade when you buy a 2015 car and the 2016 come out with a brand new engine and all kinds of better free options, heck no.

just got a free upgrade on my mac and iphone. Do you own stock in festool. Not  stop apologizing and settling and start pushing festool to be as claimed professional tools for professionals.

That's not the same thing at all , let me know when Apple gives all it mac user news laptops when the new year version come out.

I am a business owner and what you are asking is unfair of  any business.

Obviously you don't  know of me or read my posts, I am anti Kapex all the way. I have bashed the saw quite a bit. I am anti any cross cut saw that cost 1500.00. My gosh the thing cross cuts wood and isn't even the best miter saw out there. That doesn't make what you ask them to do with free upgrades right.

I prefer my Milwaukee and DeWalt.

I dunno, they upgraded my ETS 125 sander - and if you have an aggressive accountant it was pretty much free.  [tongue]

.......................if it ever shows up.

It's sounding lately like it could be a unicorn  [unsure] [unsure] [unsure] [unsure]

I had a 2008 mac laptop. It had one of the bad Nvidia graphics cards. It was well out of warranty. I took it to the Apple store, and they replaced the logic board. The repair took only a couple days and I had my computer back.

The same computer also had one of the crappy Sony made batteries that were defective. Apple also replaced that for for free, after the warranty had ended. I've also had far fewer problems with the Mac than people I know who have had Dells, and HP computers.

I find it interesting that in a meritocratic society, such as American, consumers seem to have an acute sence of entitlement to free stuff.

Yes, I too have received free replacement hardware from Apple when the parts were defective. But in the context of this thread, I have yet to receive an updated High-res monitor or more RAM simply because those were improvements they made to newer models.

Yes, well an in depth discussion on that would be highly politicial and beyond the scope of this forum.

And with that I will end it by saying not all of us. [big grin]

I actually see it in a more psychological than political sence.
It goes something like: I've been their customer for years, they owe me a discount/free shipping/fruit basket. Why not the other way around? They've been providing you great service for years, send them a gift card.

The guy who cuts my hair, whats left of it,  gets a bottle of The Glenlivit from me every year (the 12 year old version, not the 18 ).  Others who perform regular services for me, such as the postman, all get annual gift cards.  Then of course there are the charities I donate money to every year, who don't provide me with any services, other than to provide for the causes I believe in.

Going the opposite direction, Festool recently gave away several CXS 90 year Anniversary Edition drills to members of FOG, with one coming my way.  They certainly did not have to do that to keep my business, but they did, and I think about that every time I get in the tool shopping mood.......

As with any gift, for me at least, the real joy comes from the thought behind the gift, whether giving it or receiving it.  Notice I didn't attach the concept of "expected" to that definition.

They're a corporate entity with the sole purpose of increasing the wealth of their shareholders, by providing power tools, or whatever particular product or service a company provides. The reason consumers ask for a show of loyalty is because we are spending our money on making them more profitable and increasing their revenue, the fact that we give them our money is thanks enough because we could go elsewhere. The relationship isn't that they allow us to be customers and we should thank them.

I have had a Kapex for years.  I use it every day, and it has never missed a beat.  I learned years ago, with any saw, you always regulate your feed to the type of blade and material you are cutting.  With that in mind, I find that the existing motor is more than strong enough for a miter saw.  The trigger is a great safety device in my opinion.  I KNOW that a child cannot start it up by accident.  I love the fact that when I am making compound cuts, I can bring the saw down to the material and when I am in the correct position, start the blade and make my cut once - perfectly.  I use the existing detente override every day.  I do agree that the plastic blade guard can be a bit of a problem when cutting aluminum.  I have broken a guard in the past.  It is a simple and inexpensive part to replace.  I actually think that it being as fragile as it is is a bonus in that other components are not put under stress when something gets pulled up into the blade.  There are only three things I can see as a need to change in the design.  A recess in the bottom of the static fence that will have a linear measure.  The fence having three axis adjustment. The dust collection could be better refined as I would like no dust, but there are limitations if one is making more than 90 degree cuts.  All the above being stated, I do suggest that as the saw is nor a cheap tool, I tend to treat is with a great deal of TLC as I use it.  On construction sites I see other brands being abused by their users and I often hear that they are using their third and fourth drop saw.  Just my two cents worth...

... and this is exactly why you don't use a $300 Japanese chisel when a $10 axe is the right tool [big grin]

On site today I handed one of my very old blue handles Marpels chisels to one of the carpenters who commented that it looked pretty sharp as I was using it.  I said he could shave with my chisels.  He ran it up his arm and promptly took all the hair off.  The expletives were entertaining.  I definitely would not let him near my expensive chisels - I saw what he was using and how he looked after them.  The funny thing is it only takes a few mins a day to keep them very sharp.

In the US, you're not going to get to the bottom of the "acute sence of entitlement to free stuff" while avoiding politics. It's the proverbial elephant is in the room. I'll leave it at that.
