I got a new guy where I work (financial firm) hooked on Festool this week.  He's not a serious woodworker, but lately he's been asking me how to build a couple of things.  So this Monday morning he comes into my office and tells me he bought a portable table saw at Home Depot for $400.  I immediately had him hold up both hands for a finger count.  He told me he bought a thin kerf blade, but then realized that there is no thin kerf riving knife available for his saw.  I told him that based on what he's told me in the past I think a track saw would be a better match for him and MUCH safer.  I was actually showing him the Dewalt one because I didn't think he'd spend real money.  So later in the day he comes back and tells me he's been reading good reviews of the Festool TS55 and I told him that's a fantastic saw.  We ended that day with him planning to buy the TS55 with only the one track that comes with it - he swore up and down that he'd keep having Home Depot do the long cuts for him so he didn't need the second rail.  I steered him to the Woodworkers Club Norwalk to buy the TS55 and some clamps.

Tuesday morning he shows up and tells me he hates me.  He walked out of the store with the TS55 and the MIDI dust collector to the tune of $1200.  I tell him that if he thinks he hates me know, wait 6 months and then he'll REALLY hate me.  He noticed the cut was considerably better than the one Home Depot did, I tried to give him my surprised look.  Every time I walk by his desk a Festool website is on his computer.

Wednesday he starts talking to me about the MFT because he's noticing that cross cuts of 2x4's are tricky with just the saw and rail.

Thursday morning he's ordered the MFT and therefore about $1900 deep into Festool.  He still hates me, but is talking a little more about how to set up and use the tools rather than just repeating "I hate you" over and over again.  Up until now he thought his golf hobby was expensive...

I've told him he's gotta come see my basement shop and bring his wife along.  After the last coworker came with his wife to see my shop, on the way home she didn't just give him permission to buy Festools, she TOLD him to.

Last night I 3D printed a pair of qwas-like MFT dogs out of nylon and this morning I gave them to my victim.  I also explained that they are MFT dogs, but if his wife catches him spending too much money all at once on Festool stuff they can also be used as Neuticles.

He's already got some new project ideas and is starting to think about routers.  I forgot to mention that a few days ago he also got the Kreg pocket hole jig (Domino is going to be a while).

A week ago he built a box by having Home Depot cut up the MDF for him and using angle brackets to fasten the pieces together.
