Can anyone recommend festool jigsaw blades for my 420 that will cut 4 1/2 " european oak producing a fine cut. Based in Yorkshire, England
Thank you

Personally no. Silly question I'm guessing you want to cut a curve in the oak instead of a straight cut and that's why you want to use a jigsaw

Thank you, I have to fit an oak fireplace and where the legs meet the hearth I require a step cut to the floor. The hearth is uneven and after making a template I thought a jigsaw cut following the contours might do it either that or a tenon saw cut and profile with a cabinet makers auriou rasp.

You will be limited by the thickness of the material.  499478 will handle the length.  That is the only blade I see on the UK website and is the one that is used in the demos of cutting thick materials.

If it's solid 4 1/2 I doubt it certainly try then if it runs off and you can't see it and the areas you see look good then the job is a good one. Do you have the fire place at the moment as a lot of fire places at the pillars will have 3/4 oak box to make them look more solid and a jigsaw will be perfect way to go

Thank you, will order the longer 499478 blades and give those a try on a test piece. The fireplace is not in box section but solid air dried oak beam so its probable this is going to be a big ask.
Thank you for all that have responded

Andrew

Would a router not do it? At least for the visible sides, you could always chisel out the middle bit which will never be seen
