joining two LR-32's

At the recent remodeling show  in  Baltimore, Brian Sedgeley had a new part to correctly space the guide rails . What is the part # for this gauge? Is it avaliable yet?
 
Some of us were lucky enough to get a set a couple of months ago, thanks to Wood Junkie.  I was surprised they didn't tag along with the new CTs.
 
I was going to get in on that group purchase, but Rick Bush had told me they were coming, so I figured I could wait a little....  [doh]

Maybe the U.S. version has a wire attached and you know the rest.  [popcorn]

I think it had more to do with the fact that Festool recently introduced the longer LR32 rails.

Shane, will they be apart of a kit, or solo? if so, which kit. I'm looking at the LR32 sys kit right now, wondering if I should wait, or not. Wondering if the price would be worth getting the kit now, or waiting. those sort of decisions.

As far as I know, it will just be sold separately as is the current rail connector.
 
Any chance anybody can show a picture of this LR32 rail connector?  I have two LR32 rails myself, so I am eager to get them as well.
 
I haven't looked at my LR32 rail but went ahead and purchased a second rail for bookcases. I assumed I could join with regular rail connector. How do I join the rails? [tongue]

Right, if you butt the two rail together tight the spacing will be off.  You can use the regular connectors by measuring the hole spacing (leaving a gap between rails).

Brice is correct.  I just took it one step further...   After CAREFULLY measuring the hole spacing on two rails butted together, I simply trimmed the end of one rail to keep the hole spacing consistant.  Now I don't need to measure everytime I join the two rails, I just butt the rails together tight, spacing is right every time. (and I don't need to wait for special connectors to arrive sometime in the future)

Like many generations of craftsmen before us, I'm not opposed to modifying the tools at hand; to work for me, the way I work.

I'm not sure I understand why Festool can't manufacture the rails to perform like my rather basic fix.  There must be a way to accurately cut the rails to line up the holes, without having to resort to a somewhat "aftermarket fix"  connector rail. It seems to me that they should be able to produce miles of rail, cut at various lengths, with accurate hole spacing from rail to rail.
