Jory Brigham Workshop Classes

Major progress yesterday. Did some some cove sculpting on the table saw for the drawer front, some concrete work, built the drawer and got the first coat of finish (surfix) done and buffed. Looking good! Will finish today. Now i need to figure out how to ship it back to cincinnati!

I'm extremely jealous right now. I love Jory Brigham's style, I'd like to one day be skilled enough to even learn from him.

Looks good, where is the concrete going on your side table or is that just part of the course?

[member=45856]blaszcsj[/member] - No problem, I will cover the shipping cost to New Jersey... [not worthy]

Totally jealous, beautiful piece. Very curious about the concrete, I've been wanting to play with some myself.

Probably not, classes like this are probably a good opportunity to monetize his notoriety. If I was in his position I would consider doing the same.
As a result of winning the contest last year, he probably has a higher recognition among wood workers and hobbyists than customers for his furniture. Just a guess though...

Looks like a nice class. Is the Festool rail used to cut the miters for the box ? I've not been able to get perfect cuts with the 45 why I'm curious.

Today I finished up the assembly of the base unit, drawer, and slides. I also added a second coat of surfix finish. One more will be done at home to finish it off. I really liked working with the surfix alot actually. I sent it out UPS Ground in a crate so excited to get it back this friday. Jory, his team and family are fantastic people. It was really interesting to sit and discuss stuff with him and just hang out with him after we were done working each day. The other awesome part was to hang out with a bunch of people from the workshop that really love woodworking. Now I just have a long crappy red eye back to dreary old cincinnati. The shop out in the winery was worth the trip by itself.

Everything was done with either a table saw, band saw, or router. No track saws were used and honestly a Table saw is really the best way to do it. This project is built around building a piece with tools that every wood worker has or has access too. Not everyone has festool stuff!

No he actually has a big table due thursday that he has to start/finish! He is busy doing projects, this is just a way to meet people, have fun, and also even out the business in low times.

He went over how to do the concrete as a demo. There is not time to do both over a weekend. It was extremely informative! Ideas are now abound on where i can use it!

I really like the drawer pull, how difficult was that to shape?

Not bad the majority was done with the table saw followed by ALOT of sanding and smoothing.

Yes looks stunning.
The sculpted  drawer  front    must have taken some patience.

One of the guys that works with Jory is really good at photography touched up the final build photo. Super happy about this one.

Excellent work.  Sounds like an excellent class!

Curious what kinds of things did he show with the concrete forming?

He went thru all the steps on concrete forming, mold making, mixing concrete, prep, and finish. Pretty cool. I will definitely be doing some in the future. Possibilities are endless.

I strongly recommend looking at taking the class. It's so much fun. The people I met are amazing and the travel was not too bad. He is actually planning on making some cool camping spots on his property and picking up people at the airport to make travel easier for people in the future.
