Fitted a kitchen last week - the customer had an old dining table with a pine top they had sanded back. They asked if I could trim 6" off either end, as it was a bit too big. We'd already taken it off the base to make some room to work, and hadn't gotten round to putting the legs back on so I put it on my small work table & a stack of systainers.
Measured & put the rail down, and with my TS55 cut the first end - no problem.
Second end, measured & put the rail down, and began to cut. About 1/3rd the way across heard a strange, high-pitched noise, but didn't really pay much attention. As I got to about 2/3rds across, the noise stopped. All seemed OK until I pulled the waste piece away...

I usually check the thickness of the piece I'm cutting & set the depth so it's 1-2mm below. Since the tabletop was approx. 40mm thick (and I was in a rush) I didn't bother, I just set it on full depth... [embarassed]
