Got the 2019 Kapex Model yesterday...looking forward to getting it all set up over the next couple of days.  My trusty Dewalt DWS780 served me well.

As a DWS780 owner that doesn't feel the need to switch I'm interested to hear your opinion on it after some time with it.

Yeah, I loved my Dewalt DWS780.  I bought it used but it could have passed as new.  Think the gentleman used it for one flooring job then decided flooring wasn’t his cup of tea.  It served me well for well over 3-1/2 years of hard use.  I have put thousands of board feet through that saw with a good amount of reclaimed barn wood in the mix.  I might get it looked at because it was my first business tool purchase so have some sentimental feelings there.

But looking forward to the Kapex.  I won’t miss moving the heavy Dewalt around and for accent wall stuff the dust collection on the Dewalt was just ok at best.  Cutting wood inside a finished and occupied home is easier to handle with better dust collection.  Down here in Texas going in and out to make quick cuts can get tedious.  Especially in two story homes and in 110 degree days.

I'm a hobbyist and use my Dewalt in the unfinished side of my basement. Once it is setup I feel like cut quality and accuracy can't be beat. It's on one of those Rigid rolling stands tucked away in the corner. That is the problem. If I want true repeatable accuracy I take the saw off and set it up on my MFT's and install some Festool fence with Starrett tape applied. I've thought about investing into the Fastcap fence system. I like the ease of setup for the Kapex on the rolling cart with extensions.

Here's a picture for better visualization of what I do:

Working in a small space if I need to get the saw back out it's a real pain to set it up again because I forgot to cut something. That's the reason I'm looking into a better solution to get up and going fast without sacrificing repeat-ability. So for me it's whether I want to buy the Fastcap setup and keep the saw that I absolutely love or spend way more to get into the Kapex w/ cart and extensions.

That’s a nice setup.  I’m not knocking the Dewalt at all.  Like I said, served me well.  I really like the light “laser” system.  No adjustments needed.  It’s footprint, weight, and dust collection are the only gripes I would mention.  Stellar saw overall.

Thanks for the order, [member=60651]TXFIVEO[/member]!  [thumbs up]

You’re welcome. Gotta love the fast turnaround on orders at your company.  I miss the no tax option, but I understand Uncle Sam’s ways....

Finally took it out of the box...
