I'm a turning newbie and would like to try a segmented bowl. I've seen some home made jigs for cutting the segments with the table saw. Has anyone used the Kapex to cut the segments?  I was wondering how accurate the detent angles are?

6 sides needs 30 deg cuts and 8 sides needs 22.5 deg.

Thanks

I received an email from a customer who attended a seminar and the presenter, Malcolm Tibbets, was using a Kapex. You can see some of his work on his website at http://www.tahoeturner.com.

His email address is on his website as malcolm@tahoeturner.com. He may be a good source of information about using the Kapex for segmenting work.

You might also want to contact one of our members - Bill Wyko - thru his website.  Bill's website

Bill also does segmented tithings and won a contest on Fine Woodworking a couple of years ago.  He now uses a Kapex I believe.

Gave it a go and was quite pleased with the results. This is a test bowl using stave segments made with scrap yellow pine and walnut.

The staves were cut on the Kapex  [big grin]
