Hi
Just got home and unpacked the new baby. Oh its good  [big grin] Jpeg 19 for Jonny round Boy.

Review at week end

John

Aw man, that looks nice!

The extensions - is that a carry-case type thing (the plastic mouldings with the Festool-branded strap around), or just packaging? Would it hold together with just one of themin there instead of both?

I'm trying to get the cash together to buy one of the new extensions. I don't need the trolley, or both extensions, so I'm just (hopefully) getting the left-hand extension.

How stable does the trolley feel, both with and without the extensions?

Thanks for pic19, BTW!

John,

One more thing - could you tell me what the dimension is between the right-hand edge of the saw, and the outer edge of the 'foot' on the extension (marked in red below)?

I want to be able to set mine up on my bench, and I'm not sure if it's quite long enough! The length of the bench top is roughly 1790mm, so from that pic it looks close...

I ll measure it tomorrow and get back to you.

John

I also need comfort ,understanding and support from you all. While i was picking this up , there was a small lonely carvex set crying to its self on the shelf. I had to take pity on it and take it home. I m going to give it a name, Dogs dangley bits . what an awesome bit of kit it is as well.

Them plastic things your on about are needed to keep the left and right arm together you do need both other wise they wont stay together. You can either carry it on your back with the strap or I would recommend to place it onto the festool bench when it is in trolley mode.  It will only fit in one way.  You try it any other way and it doesn't fit properly and wobbles every where. If you place it in correctly it fits nicely but it doesn't lock or click into place so you do feel like they could fall of but they don't.

I don't know how it will work if you was just to buy the left one if you get different plastic bits or just the same but you wont have a snug fit if you placed it onto the chop saw bench I know that for a fact.

Its brilliant you can move the entire lot just with one HAND!!!!!!

I have a question.

The saw rides in that stand but, how do you go from stored position to work position?

Looks nice.  I just don't know if I could flop a 20' piece of composite decking or a long piece of 10" Miratec.

If you look at it as its fully out with the chop saw yeah?!?!  Now the bar on the left unclips at the bottom and then fold under the chop saw and then the shop saw pivots down and the bar which just folded under becomes the handle bar to pull it along

So obviously to go the work position you do the opposite

get me?!?!?

Yeah that explains it.

That seems top heavy with the saw on it though.

Is there a way to lock the saw down it the storage position?

No cus the chop saw goes down so it sits at the bottom cus it pivots on the right side down so its on its side when its in  trolley mode all the time and you have to turn the chop saw away from the angle finder at the full mitre cut. You do lock the handle bar with a little metal piece to me it seems a little bit shitty but it does the job. Ill do a video of it tomorrow this time 2night or earlier and post it on this topic showing how it folds. You have to keep your feet on the bench while you do all this cus it moves around other wise.

Man that looks nice  [smile]  Not sure how steady the extension wings are though ?  Look as though they could be a bit wobbly with a heavy Oak batton on there.  Look forward to your review John.

Woodguy.

Brilliant find that video Brice, demonstrates it  perfectly, where do you find them? It was easier to put together than they made it look.

Regards John

Pretty good video Brice.  From the earlier pictures, it doesn't look like the extenstion wings work with the crown stops.

Oh, you just need to dig through Youtube a little. Click on the video and it will take you to video on Youtube. From there click on the user's name to see more of his videos. He's got a few on the Carvex too.

Wow! I'm impressed!

Although it's not going to be cheap... I think that this must be the best mitersaw stand on the market. Now, I really hope it will come to North America soon... It will sell... A lot!

Thanks for posting!

Does the price include your own helper from Festool to get the saw set on there. [big grin]

I bet I could drop something doing that, I know myself all too well.

There may be a scourge of kapex mft's for sale soon.

As long as the stand with the saw set-up is fairly sturdy, I like it.

great pictures john. thanks for taking the time to show us.

great video brice thanks.

the one thing i would have liked to have seen, would be to see 1 man setting up the bench.
a lot of the time i am working on my own. i do not have the luxury of an extra pair of hands!

justin.

Am I understanding this correctly, you cannot use the crown stops if extensions are employed?
